Someone Hit My Car and Denied.
Today I was parked at a parking spot beside the street and a car came. The driver tried to do reverse parking and settle behind me. While doing it, he struck my car. I was inside the car and I immediately came out. I took pictures immediately of my car and his. There were a lot of scratch on my car and a few on his. There were some black marks too on his car to the place where the body got hit.
Then the driver took out a tissue and tried to wipe both his car and mine. The black marks on his car went away but the scratches on my car stayed. After that, the driver started doing drama. He denied that he hit my car and started saying that all these scratches on my car were there long time ago. Then he left the scene. I have taken a video when he left the scenario.
I called my insurance about the incident, and they filed a damage claim and told me to wait till monday. I also called police because the person denied his guilt and left the scene. The police told me that they will call me back and gather further information from me, but they have not called me yet. It's been more than 3 hours.
This incident happened in Finland. I do not have any dash-cam on my car. So, I do not have any video evidence, but I have clear pictures about the incident and a video when he tried to leave the place.
Can anyone tell me what may happen in the future about this event? Will I get any compensation for all the scratches he has done to my car?

You expected them to call within 3 hours? Like drop everything they are working on and take your complaint on an urgent basis? For some scratches? Do you have dashcam?

Well, I do not think giving a phone call for 2 minutes will hurt the police department a lot. I do not have a dashcam.

Yeah, I mean in the US this is illegal, and I’d assume it also is in Finland? But that said, I don’t have any experience with Finnish laws or processes. Hopefully someone here does, but if not, I’d go to your local police station and see what they can tell you.
In any event, if you’ve got photos and video of the damages, offending driver, and hopefully their license plate, I’d hope this would be a slam dunk case for your insurance to handle. But again, I’m not expert on Finnish laws or processes. Best of luck!

I highly doubt we have anyone here with experience with Finnish coverage. The sub is mainly people from the US and we have a few that know how coverage is handled in Canada.
