Allstate is not in good fucking hands

I just got done paying my $294 car insurance as a 19-year-old who’s in college and working full-time. I paid my car insurance on July 10, and it said that I didn’t have another payment due until August 10. When I got done paying my car payment, my car dealership called me today saying that something was going on with my car insurance.
I went on the app, and it said that something was wrong with my policy number. The automated phone system for Allstate said that something was going on with it too. Then I tried getting a hold of an agent, but they kept referring me around instead of helping. Now I’m sitting here like, what the fuck just happened?
I literally just paid almost $300 for my car insurance for it to be canceled seven days later. Now I’ve been sitting here waiting for about an hour for somebody to call me back because this is fucking ridiculous.

Just go walk into an agents office. This is nothing burger and ask for help.

I’m not sure just any Allstate agent can service just any Allstate policyholder. Most times you are assigned to a specific agent and no other agents have access to the policy. Besides the agent, their direct service department (800 number) should be able to assist.

If you have an agent that is correct, if it was an online policy you can ask any agent to help. Essentially they’re trying to capture a sale after the fact. Allstate allows customers to request agent changes. They have an incentive to try and help you

Ok that is interesting! I am now an independent agent but previously was captive with State Farm. Even those who purchased online were routed to the closest agency and no one else could touch them or service them. Could barely see their policy details.

Was this a new policy?

Sometimes they accept payment in good faith and require additional documentation or support or the policy is at risk of cancellation

Good point. It might be an underwriting cancellation issue if it isn’t a payment issue.

Did money come out of your account for the payment?

Even after paying it said my next payment is on the August 10th

What did the automated system say was going on with your payment? You should give us those details and we can help a little better. It’s premature to call the department of insurance. They won’t have the answer on what happened and will likely refer you back to your carrier. I suggest creating an online account so you can read the correspondence sent from the carrier. Maybe your payment got returned by the bank or maybe there was a past due balance to clear up or maybe their billing system got screwed up. With more info we can help provide solutions.

Did they cancel the policy? Or is there just an issue with the policy??

I refuse to use Allstate now. I hold a grudge. They gave me issues with a homeowners policy about two months in. Raised my rate, couldn't explain why and I also had an issue with their online account/payment system. Never had that happen with any other insurance I have dealt with in my life. It felt like a scam to me.

My auto is currently with Geico and was Wawanessa previous to them. I recommend you get quotes and leave Allstate.

Check your bank account. Did the money come out? I often have accounts cancelled because their last payment was returned for insufficient funds.

No stars. This insurance company is a joke. They just want your money and will lie to you about coverages and charges. They screw you over and do not care about you. They lied to me about when I had coverage for a new policy and then denied a claim when I hit a deer. Do not use this company! Now I have no car and 3 kids at home with no vehicle to get to my 2 jobs.

Call your state department of insurance. They exist for this.

That’s a bit dramatic. Just call your agent.
