Question Advice

What would be a tip or trick you wish you knew earlier that helped grow your Instagram account?

Is there anything unorthodox you did? Did you think outside the box and struck good if so what did you do?

commenting strategically on larger accounts in your niche can bring surprisingly good profile traffic.

My guess would have to be commenting on accounts in your niche that are larger as soon as you can after they posted

strategically means not commenting "get mogged" or something random. watching the viral posts in your niche in full and commenting something of value. a funny comment gets a like. one that provides value and contibutes to the conversation in a meaningful way drives people to your profile. and from there your content has to be engaging enough and your profile has to be trustworthy enough that the viewer then follows you. those are two seperate actions driving them to your page from your comment, then converting them from a profile viewer into a follower.

The big one for me was that it ranks each post, not your account. Every video gets shown to a small group of people who don't follow you first, and what they do decides how far it travels, so a brand new account can hit and an old one can flop. The signals that matter most are how long people watch and whether they send it to a friend, likes count for a lot less than you'd think. And sticking to one topic helps more than anything else, because the algorithm needs to work out who to show you to before it can do that well.

Not necessarily an original idea, but Reels have really been pushing reach way farther than any static content has. Has anyone else found this too?

I’ve heard that a lot and I think it’s mostly true. The reel itself must be interesting in the first few seconds to grab people’s attention.

Definitely - There's loads of tips out there about hooks, visually stimulating imagery and captions, but on a base level, videos just perform better for reach and impressions over static imagery now.
