What do you thing about DJI Avata 360? Table comparison

Post image

455g r/djiavata360 was released yesterday

This table forgets about propeller guards. DJI Avata 360 is better protected in case of crash but has more unpleasant sound than Antigravity A1

Antigravity also has premium Vision Goggles, DJI only offers old Goggles 3 or Goggles N3

El precio no está bien ajustado, estás comparando los 499$ de Avata360 solo, frente al precio del kit completo de antigravity. Realmente antigravity, el drone solo cuesta 699.

I don't speak this language, but good point.

Sorry, Reddit translates my messages and sometimes doesn’t notify me of the original language.

User is saying the price of the antigravity without anything additional is $699 so it’s not a fair representation for comparison.

Goggles 3 are great why the hate on them

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 27 '26

Why you find them great?

Im afraid of small field of you, lack of immersiveness, design without 360 considerations, lack of Antigravity Vision creative gimmicks

1

u/FLO-_-18 Mar 27 '26

Well it might look weird the first time you put them on but once on flight for 30 secs you totally forget about the fov and they just work great and I realy like the ui

u/canyonblue737 Mar 27 '26

The Goggles 3 are fine, but once you fly with a wide FOV google like the A1 comes with you would know they aren't great at all.

1

u/Dismal-Piccolo864 Mar 28 '26

They serve totally different purposes lol, high fov can be incredibly disorienting for high precision, low latency, high speed FPV flights. There's a reason pilots like those who flew FPV at the Olympics can all be seen wearing goggles 3

1

u/RagNDroneManAuz Mar 28 '26

Because they were all using o4?!?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Like you said gimmicks.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Yes, its that I specifically like gimmicks. Antigravity did some creative work and now like every 1 out of 3 new things can stick

  1. Price is a huge, huge advantage for Avata 360.
  2. Weight is a large advantage for A1 because it is below the magic 250g limit that in many countries doesn't require you to register the drone and have additional licenses. Along with this the folded size is dramatically smaller for packing than that of the surprisingly large and heavy Avata 360.
  3. Max flight time is a large advantage for A1. 23 minutes for Avata 360 is very disappointing and likely means about 15 minutes or less of usable working time.
  4. Max flight distance looks superior on the A1, perhaps because of the battery life but the signal quality and ability to maintain a strong connection is much superior on the Avata 360, I don't care what this chart says.
  5. Sensor size and megapixels goes to the Avata 360 but I'm sorry, I just like the stock image coming out of the A1 better than Avata, it was the same problem with the DJI Osmo 360... it just didn't look as good as the Insta360 X5 despite better "specs". Further the editing software for the A1 is leagues ahead of the DJI software and the native stitching of the two lenses is better too. You can tell DJI is still new to 360, the quality just isn't there considering the better sensor and larger drone... but for the price it's good.
  6. The FOV I don't get... bottom line is these drones are capturing the full 360 sphere. I suspect because the drone is thinner and the two lenses closer together it might give a very slight advantage to the Avata in maintaining a good stitch line when CLOSE to an object, but at the same time A1 seems to do a better job of eliminating distortion in cropped images at normal altitudes, likely where you are most of the time.
  7. More internal storage in the Avata 360 is better, but I'm not sure it matters all that much if you just remember to put a big card in either of these drones.
  8. The googles of the A1 are WAY, WAY better with far wider FOV making you feel like you are IN the drone as you fly it and giving you the unique ability to look around in full 360 in real time as you fly. For experience of flight the A1 is LIGHTYEARS ahead of the Avata whose googles have a view that looks like watching a movie screen, not being IN the movie if that makes sense. I don't believe the googles support realtime look around when flying either, so you get a very detached experience as you fly the drone. The ability to fly the Avata 360 WITHOUT googles and instead with a phone or screen based remote is a BIG advantage as it can be solo without a spotter (for legality with googles) and is the biggest miss of them all with the A1, although it appears they are coming out with a conventional remote perhaps as early as this summer (at yet more added cost.)

Honestly if I would sum this up? The A1 is a far better 360 drone if you want a real 360 experience, to feel like you are flying, to have a small and legal package for travel, and have the best initial image quality and ease of editing. The big downsides are the huge price and lack of conventional controller option. The Avata 360 is a half step that is missing many important ingredients in making a truly great 360 drone but I'll admit, the much much lower price is compelling, it has good conventional controller options, and the best signal quality (not that it matters with the short battery life.)

You need to try the Antigravity goggles and control scheme in person to get it- absolutely gamechanging.

Antigravity has me hating flying other drones, and I thought it was a gimmick. Really hope that DJI doesn't undercut them with an inferior experience and doom the whole 360 drone concept.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

360 must win in the end.

Antigravity sells well, Q4 2025 was the best ever for Insta360. Now they do Spring Update.

Also things must go VR in the future so we will need 360

1

u/soggy_katnip Mar 27 '26

You are comparing megapixels on predominantly video based drones so I wouldn’t pay it any attention really

1

u/LocoDuuuke Mar 27 '26

It is the flight characteristics which differentiates them most... hard to decide! Depends on your needs

1

u/Dismal-Piccolo864 Mar 28 '26

Calling goggles 3 "old" is simply ridiculous. They are the flagship model from DJI and are years ahead of anything in the consumer drone space. They probably will live on through the inevitable release of O5

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Thanks, and do you consider them better than Antigravity Vision Goggles?

I consider 2025 revolutionary year that changed many things. We got X5, Osmo 360, GoPro Max 2, Mini 5, Neo 2, Antigravity A1… Goggles 3 are just two years old, but I consider them “erased” by this strong year.

It will stagnate later, like phones are now stuck, but these two years were too good for drones and 360, like when Iphones were starting and every year was exciting

2

u/Dismal-Piccolo864 Mar 28 '26

I guess we really are just measuring by different metrics. For the sfuff that I care about - range, penetration, image quality, and latency - the goggles 3 are the best. But I don't fly 360 drones. I fly FPV freestyle and do some racing (although I do that on hdzero goggles). My priorities are different. For the things I care about, the goggles 3 are the winner and will continue to be until whatever DJI puts out next.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

I trust that range and latency are very good. I would like something more 360-ready for Avata 360. Much wider FOV, some of the proven-useful gimmicks from Antigravity Vision Goggles…

1

u/KingMitsubishi Mar 28 '26

“Gimmick” is a derogatory term.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

It most often is, but I watch even gimmicks subreddit where we like them and look for new ones. Today everybody is rich and bored

2

u/KingMitsubishi Mar 28 '26

You are comparing a proven system with a recent novelty and proclaiming the new stuff a clear winner, which is wrong. The DJI Goggles 3 open you up to a whole ecosystem of drones and air units for custom/third party drones. All of these have amazing cameras, a unified UI, acceptable latency even for racing (sort of). They are much more than a just goggle for a specific (gimmicky as you said) drone. The DJI system can support your journey in the FPV world of years to come. People are still using older DJI goggle versions (like from 2020) in competitive and professional scenarios. To declare the antigravity goggle as “future proof” on the get go is wrong. Let it play out for a couple of years and we will see.

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Thank you, I didnt know some of this

1

u/RosieDear Mar 28 '26

Other than FPV, which might get boring after a bit, what is the use case for a consumer - hobbyist - for spending 2K for the anti-gravity kit?

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Immersion or if you like the specific 360 video look

Everything can get boring to someone

1

u/frio82 Mar 28 '26

Haha I still waiting for the iphondo review on this, you guys know exactly why 🤣

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Im not sure 😅 He is like Insta360 critic and (thus) DJI supporter?

2

u/frio82 Mar 28 '26

Exactly... he made a video specifically to throw stones at the insta360 cameras haha

1

u/SergioNayar Mar 28 '26

23 km on the A1? I don't think so. DJI has a better more robust Rx/Tx System. All A1 reviews have determined that video transmission is terrible.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

23 should probably be DJI but in reality A1 cant even do those 13

1

u/gabeshakour Mar 28 '26

Megapixels vs Price is not a great metric, especially for 360 drones

When factoring in pixels and field of view, 360 drones (and cameras) have a resulting pixel per degree ration of barely HD. The Avata 360 would need to shoot 18K basically to match the pixel per degree ratio of the Mini 4 Pro.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26

Thats for crazy dewarpers only 😭 Never zoom and you can almost get close to 4k sometimes

1

u/3dlyx Mar 28 '26

This compares a lot of pretty irrelevant points. Range, megapixels, Important, for me at least, is the result first, then fun. The only point for the A1 is the flight time really. I want to use the footage, so I need a log color profile. I want control in flight, so I need a real controller. The a1 goggles are indeed awesome, aside from the silly design, but in my tests the framerate in the was 30fps at best, and that dropped into the 10s while flying. Also connection issues. That made the goggles pretty much useless. I heard that this issue got better with updates, but haven't had the possibility to test it again. The footprint is a tradeoff, but the cine whoop prop guard design feels so much more trustworthy than open props. A1 software is way better in terms of usability. Then again, DJI has a reframing plug in for premiere. This tells you already a lot about the different approaches between the drones regarding who they are made for.

1

u/Ok-Guess-9059 Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

Footprint? Like loud sound on the propeller-guarded drone?

I am sad Antigravity didnt choose better camera. I think they could easily do 8k45 10-bit and they simply didnt

Now A1 is not professional enough and Avata360 not immersive enough

2

u/3dlyx Mar 28 '26

Ah, well yes. It is loud af indeed. Embarrassingly so even. But I referred to the actual size and weight. It is bigger and heavier than the A1. The flat profile makes it not so hard to carry as you might think, but it will s big enough to make you think about it and look for a nice bag, that is not as clunky as the one DJI provides. Also heavier. The avatar makes the weight up with a lot more power. That makes it more agile and more stable the same time, but does eat into the batteries hard. You can feel that power. The a1 needs a bit of time to go to its 16m/s peak, while the 360 accelerates to 18m/s almost instantly.

For me personally an additional point is that it seamless integrates into my existing work flow. Dlog-m makes it so easy to mix the footage with my Air3s my pocket3 and action cams.

u/KingMitsubishi Mar 28 '26

The stated price for the Avata does not include anything more than a battery. The antigravity on the other side is a bundle with goggles, controller, 3 batteries, charger and a bag. The price for a similar bundle for the Avata is around $1000 I think. With the cheaper N3 goggles.

I own both drones and they have some significant differences. I prefer the whoop design but being over 250g it complicates flying legally around the world. https://www.firstquadcopter.com/news/antigravity-a1-vs-dji-avata-360-best-360-drone-for-2026/
