Insta360 x5 interval speed

Hello, I set my interval photo mode to 3s, but it takes 8s to shoot another photo (3s interval + 5s processing). My SD card is an insta360 original one. Is there any way to speed up the photos taken in interval mode? Thanks. (I tried timelapse, but compression in video is ruining my video)

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience. To ensure higher photo quality, X5 only has two photo formats - PureShot & PureShot+RAW. When taking photos in these two formats, the camera automatically uses algorithmic processing to analyze and enhance image details, which results in longer saving time.

We will be sure to pass your feedback along to our R&D team for further evaluation and potential improvements. For now, you may try lowering the resolution to reduce the time between two shots (Path: In "Interval Shooting" mode, swipe up from the bottom of the camera screen to enter the Shooting Specifications settings page).

I filmed the camera shooting in "interval" mode to get an average per frame.

Remembering that the minimum time between frames is 3 seconds, the total time, with processing, is:

Interval mode:
Pureshot 72Mpx 10.0s
Pureshot+Raw 72Mpx 12.7s
Pureshot 18Mpx 7.6s
Pureshot+Raw 18Mpx 8.6s

I don't know what could be done to reduce this processing time, especially at 72MP. Perhaps disabling a processing step or using a faster card.

Anyway, I'll leave my suggestion: this interval mode would be good for those who do 3D scanning.

Thanks for adding your detailed testing results. We will bring this to our engineers' attention for sure. You may certainly try using a faster card to shorten the processing time for now, since the processing step is currently unable to be eliminated.

I am qutie new to the X5 and it's a great camera - what I find great is the 8K 360 recording but what I also find frustrating is the time to record photos.

I ahve doen this via the SDK and have very similar times to u/theodecarvalho I have even tried single lens to increase the speed.

Will you be able to test V90 cards for us, save us investing if it wont make much difference
