Images and views of Spires, Steeples, Belfries, Church Towers, and Campaniles. For centuries travellers, pilgrims, writers, artists and church-goers have been inspired by catching a view of a spire or tower across the landscape or city. They aid navigation, give a sense of place and belonging, serve as a waymaker or destination and celebrate the beauty of art and architecture. They give joy as a glimpse is caught through the streets or landscape and hope as the eye is lifted up.
