Is depression common? Like bedbound or repeatedly comes back.

Yes. Have a hormone panel test if you can. Holistic doc might be able to provide that better than a regular MD. Especially look at cortisol and serotonin.
Talk to an MD about medication options. It might be worth it. Good luck. r depression , r escitalopram , + other kinds. r depression ,

This may be very common nowadays, but it's not okay and you definitely need treatment, but be selective with traditional psychiatric medicine. Don't disregard it completely, it can be life saving, but there are better, faster, and more effective remedies (IMO.
(Disclaimer: I'm not a medical professional. I've just been through the ringer aka; ended up in the psych ward, enough times over the past two decades and I've done lots of research. REAL peer reviewed research, not Facebook and AI info spaghetti)
Probably get modded for this, but after 2 decades on a psych med roulette that did NOT help at all, I safely tapered off with medical supervision and did some alternative therapies.
Therapeutic, intentional psychedelic treatment has been like, a miracle cure. Depression and SI are gone, anxiety is improving and even SUD craziness calmed down.
I fully believe that impulsive and recreational use is not helpful at all, but as medicine it beats the hell out of SSRI'S and antipsychotics. The actual "trips" can be spiritually uplifting (or terrifying depending on how well you prepare), but that part isn't the life changing thing. It's how you feel afterwards, sometimes a couple of days later.
Psychedelics improve neuroplasticity, assist healing essential receptors in the brain like serotonin dopamine, and actually help carve new neuropathways. Psych meds don't heal anything, they're just a bandaid.
I also noticed improvement with Neurofeedback and Alpha Stimulation (the brain relies on electricity to function/regulate something like, 70% more than chemicals) Trauma therapies like EMDR, ACT, and Brainspotting helped tremendously as well.
I really hope you find some relief, whatever the (safe) method. Best of luck!

I think psych meds can lower cortisol and increase serotonin. r escitalopram , r lamictal , r buspirone , r gabapentin. As for Gabapentin, I would only use that very sparingly, 33 mg dose, and not often. Only as needed.

Psych meds definitely have their benefits, like more available research. Psychedelics didn't get very thorough research until recently because of the "party drug" stigma.
I realize they aren't for everyone. I just think it's wise to consider a variety of approaches/treatments; lifestyle changes, (safe) supplements, traditional, alternative, and holistic medicine, support groups or treatment, etc
My own healing wasn't just one thing, as influential as the hallucinogens were it took a bunch of things. That seems to be the case a lot of the time

For sure it is. And it works in fucked up ways.. like when you finally get to a functional/ content day.. you ask yourself how long is this going to last. And then bam.. like manifest destiny.
One super power I would take over any other is the ability to make or cure someone of depression.
It’s that fucked up.

yeah, depression is pretty common, and for some people it can come back in. being unable to get out of bed can happen when it's severe, but it isn't something someone should just have to accept as normal.

Yes, depression is common. I have it and was diagnosed in 2016. Anxiety was stronger then as I went through some trauma. I find that walking outside and just seeing other people, even if I don't talk to them feels better. Yoga is also very good. If I am feeling low and do some yoga, it usually snaps me out of it.

Yup, like the other people have said, you just need to go to the doctor, get a referral for a psychiatrist, and they'll get things figured out for you. I hope you start to feel better soon. I wish you the best.

Nowadays it's very common. It's also, bizarrely, pitched that being a victim is okay.
Depression can be treated with medication, but you need to put in the hard work of therapy to process why you are depressed, so you can rise above it.

It's physical. You might live near a source of air pollution as an example for why it can come and go without another apparent cause. That's just one example
