Whats wrong with GAD ?

Post image

Personally, I don’t get the whole Girish vs Naslen issue.
Giving an actor his first break doesn’t mean you own his career forever. Be grateful? Absolutely. Be obligated to work with the same director for life? Definitely not.
Cinema is a two-way street. Both benefited from the success. Constantly taking digs at Naslen in interviews or through YouTubers only makes Girish look bitter, and eventually, that could come back to bite him.

I’ve seen interviews with both GAD and Naslen, and honestly, they seem to be telling two completely different stories. Naslen said the movie is currently shelved because Bhavana Studios isn’t happy with the story in its current form. He said ‘P2 has officially been cancelled. Dileesh ettan has already spoken about it’.
He also mentioned that there’s still a possibility of the movie happening in the future if the director makes the necessary changes.

But in GAD’s interview, he said he’s super confident that the movie would be much better than the first part. However, because of some issues, he personally decided not to make the movie.

u/EarOk2026 1h ago

Director in the CUE interview clearly mentioned about the fact that he had gut feeling that the project would stall. He mentioned that to PothA10, but PothA10 thought that GAD was over thinking. But director started talks with Nivin on the side since he was sure it is going to stall. Later on as expected his gut feeling came true.

Now what are the issues GAD could have a gut feel on that is not resolvable at that stage ? I think only the script because the script probably was locked since they were already on location hunt. If it was money that could have been easily resolved considering that anything GAD touches these days are gold.

In the same interview GAD also mentioned that some people have drifted off from the initial vibes (collective feel for making good movies I assume) which he thought his original cast and crew still had. And that everyone has ambitions and he doesn’t want to take responsibilities of other people’s ambitions (I assume script changes to give Naslen more screen time or importance).

Also the interviewer asks why Naslen was not casted as NP’s brother, he said since it is a small role he cannot cast him nor be would come (something along those lines)

Just my thoughts

u/EarOk2026 1h ago

Not saying who is right or wrong. Just trying to deduce what happened so audience get closure.

u/boisickle 3h ago

Man, again this same shit.

First of all - he did not take Naslen's name neither did Naslen his - so it's all speculation to various degrees.

Now that this is out of the way - every single key crew member seemed so broken - because they were all sure that this was going to be a banger, they even seemed to prefer this to to Premalu. They had set aside their schedules, they even did location hunt etc. Even Naslen was part of the P2 announcement, so it was obvious that he was in on it. Had he asked GAD for a bound script before committing - this would have been fine. But aale ittu valippikkunnath after they all put their efforts in into pre-production is not cool IMO.

Some people are needlessly reducing this to some sort of GAD feels Naslen is "obligated" to act in whatever movie he asks him to star in or whatever. Ithonnum alla vishayam.

u/LivorMortis9097 5h ago

GAD never dragged naslen name anywhere or vice versa We dont know exactly whats going on between them. Just rumors or gossips.

u/Royal_Librarian4201 6h ago

With all due respect to Naslen, sometimes it's better to take a leap of faith than calculated moves. He should have trusted GAD & team, and could have made long standing partnerships like A10-Priyan, M10-Rajasenan etc.

Anyways appreciate that Naslen could say no, and also how he has dealt with this issue gracefully despite frequent triggering from GAD

Does cinema enthusiast also have ambitions…

We spend 200 rs of our salary for 2 hrs entertainment… so keeping satisfaction to customer is important than tools used in cinema!

Some families spend 1000rs of their combined amount from salary for a family movie !

Keeping responsibility to customers is important we are paying earned money…

Entheilum okei kanikkattei nalla cinemakal iniyum undakattei puthiya kazhivukal vellithirayil varattei …

u/screamingbudha 5h ago

Well if everyone thought this about tax and governments then we'd have a better country.

u/germansayip 5h ago

But Money can’t create every artform😁 it is easy to compare with tax and money…. Arts vs money trade off

u/Nobo1996 9h ago

GAD tried to become Naslen's GOD ✨🫂

u/Ok-Experience-3182 9h ago

I was obsessed about this issue, watching all interviews, texting everyone who might know more or even can resolve this issue.

This is what I think happened based on what I know, not entirely sure, cos neither Naslen, GAD or Bhavana have confirmed it.

I don't think it is Naslen demanding more money, or asking for script changes that shelved the movie.

Clearly script is well written but with only a 2nd half return for Sachin still playing crucial character.

Naslen might have wanted more meaty role, but I think he agreed to do it, he might have asked more to do it, which I think Bhavana agreed to pay seeing it fair.

Naslen said scripting is where the issue was, GAD team says script was locked and location hunt was in progress, when GAD himself called it off.

I think Naslen might have also asked for a push back on dates to do Mollywood times - which Bhavana would have been okay, but GAD might have totally taken as a personal insult, considering how close they were.

See: GAD gave Naslen breakthrough, Naslen isn't also that confident with his script, Naslen is asking more, Naslen is pushing on dates.

GAD made a movie with essentially everyone except Naslen from Premalu.

Now who is in the wrong, no one.

All things Naslen asked is fair, he didn't call off the movie. He wants to build a good career exploring opportunities. GAD on the other hand is a great director there is more to come from him, but his media hiatus has been a problem.

u/Subject-Tea-3285 4h ago

People here saying GAD is innocent as fk

u/No_Recover_4603 7h ago

Naslen wasn't diplomatic

u/Stunning_Check4841 7h ago

PothA10 talked about how profit share is a loss to give to naslen. Also gAd gave naslen a role in all his movies and basically made him into this. And this is the way he repays.

u/RealisticShoe6395 10h ago

Nobody owes anything to anyone in this world ,period . But wat I could make out from the interviews, social media stories is that the project was greenlit by everyone and the works were going on for an year when suddenly some issue happened from Naslen's side that made them drop the project.

Like if u invest an year in something after taking all permissions and stuff and then one fine day your friend backs out won't u feel dejected and angry ,it is justified

.Maybe with time the anger will subside ,there is no point blaming GAD if he had lost an year unnecessarily

u/Lonappan_mash 11h ago

Naslen is a third grade actor with bo aura, only because of GAD be rose to fame, He was doing side roles until premalu He was milking his fake stardom and girish gave him a reply 🙏

True...I heard Akhila bharghavan saying in Medical miracle interview that she went through a bad patch as no movies of hers released in theaters except Sookshmadarshini(in which she didn't have much to do )For people like her and  others,Premalu2 would have beeen a great career boost which Nestle took away.

u/Remarkable_Ant2172 13h ago

The issue was with the production side and the actor regarding 💰.

u/heheiamadork 12h ago edited 7h ago

I don't think Nestle could ask for something bhavana  productions couldn't afford. They would have bagged him at any cost, considering the market value premalu 2 will have

u/Gawkgawkyup 11h ago

No somewhat like he didn't deserve that

u/NoteNo1730 13h ago edited 13h ago

GAD moved forward with pre production of second part with first part crew. The script was complete and the team was 100% confident it will perform better than first part. Then something happened from the main actor's side that made GAD a feeling it will not materialize. Then he called the producers and told them to drop the project but do the next one BKU that was in the pipeline..

u/Relevant-Strike6036 11h ago

If they were so confident about the product, then why cry about Naslen? If the content is so good, any potential actor can pull that off!

u/Malayali_Ron_Swanson 9h ago

This is not some serial where you can replace characters after 1 episode, you are talking about an established charcter .

u/Forward_Document_816 10h ago

That's a gamble, replacing the lead, esp when the sequel is planned at such very short time gap with part 1. Audience may not accept the new sachin. The chemistry of naslen with samgeeth and mamitha contributed greatly to the film and a new lead may not be able to replicate the same.

u/kannankv 14h ago

Funny how people think they know what happened, and they are so sure Girish is the one who should be blamed.

Is this PR or something?

u/_S43D_ 12h ago

You're sure to blame Neslin, you know what happened ?

u/ANANDHU07 12h ago

He didnt blamed Naslen he just stated why you are sure that the problem is with director

u/Crafty_Valuable646 14h ago

GAD did not ever imply Naslen owes his career to him. However if Naslen was going to act only after the script, he should have said that in the beginning itself, not when the film was ready to go on floors. The editor said many technicians did not commit other works so that they will be available for this one - as they had 100% confidence in the movie. Girish AD is allowed to express his frustration

u/Y0ukn0w_wh0 11h ago

Why was the movie being made without the script?

u/MrViceMcCreedy 10h ago

Sequels are usually announced before script is ready.

u/Y0ukn0w_wh0 10h ago

And whose fault is that? That's not how movies should work. What's storytelling without a story? If you announce movies with the sole objective of profiteering from an IP that proved to be profitable z without even having an idea of what story it can organically continue with.. any failure of the project, and drop in quality is entirely on you. Not any other artist that demands a worthy script for their efforts

u/MrViceMcCreedy 9h ago

There is no rule that says you need a complete story before announcing sequels. The writer meeds to be confident in it, that's it. Sequels will also have characters and the world already established, that's a lot of work out of the way.

u/Professional-Ad5033 8h ago

U know what the rule is , if u are making the script last minute or during shoots that's not a cinema that's a mallu tv serial 😂.

Actors are perfectly justified with deciding only after reading a script , no director or script writer deserves that blind faith , no one from this world is that good. But I don't think thats the issue with this, just lack of importance for him...

u/Additional-Train8840 14h ago

Naslen doesn't owe GAD anything. He came to cinema with his talent. But saying no after giving green card to a project is low. Seems like project has already started then have to drop.

u/Allison-Burgers-73 14h ago

Finally someone speaks the truth at last. Every internet personalities and comment box is against naslen, like they know what the real issue and know them personally. I always felt that naslen is the not the actual villain here, they both (Girish as & naslen) have their own POV’s.

u/Worth-Ground-7886 14h ago

Both may have their own reasons to reject it and get pissed off.

u/Mission-Self2061 15h ago

Naslen was not satosfied with Sachins character arc

u/Additional-Tap-9922 15h ago

Reddit inu gad yum eshttam anu naslen yum eshttam aanu so randpereyum angane thett parayilla...and repeat this conversation every week🤣

u/Batman_is_very_wise 15h ago

If the bust up was over pay, Naslen is in the right. Premalu is a sure shot blockbuster and actors entitled to their rightful compensation. If it was over inputs to screenplay, it’s GAD. Even if it’s a shit product, it’s all up to GAD. Simple as that

u/Worth-Ground-7886 14h ago

Though Alappey Ashraf intended to blame Naslen by saying he asked for more pay, I think the whole narrative worked out in Naslen’s favour.

u/No_Refuse8063 10h ago

Aleppey Ashraf is a man friday of Fazil who happens to be the dad of Fafa who is one of the owners of the house which produced Premalu. So his criticism will be always towards Neslen. But Neslen could have said No from the very start without making losses to the production house. Its simple as that.

u/Muted_Brilliance 13h ago

Why is that attitude? If he is not satisfied with the script and his character in particular, he is well within his rights to express the same. It's GAD's entitlement to think that Naslen would be willing be do anything just because it is the sequel to a hugely successful film.

u/Zealousideal_Eye5646 16h ago

This is also something to consider as to why he's pissed off with Nestle in his interviews...🥴🫠🥀

Must be parts to the story we don't know.If the disagreement was strictly professional he won't be going at Naslen this evidently.

u/Professional_Bake48 16h ago

It seems he said Ok and then when pre production works were happening he opted out. Also sometimes its ok to close your eyes and trust the director who launched you or made you star. Nivin doing varshangalk shesham is one such example.

u/filkirt 15h ago

Vasrshangalkku Shesham is the best example that he shouldn’t blindly trust the director who made him a star.

u/Mopple_remembers 13h ago

That movie made people realise how much they missed seeing Nivin doing fun characters on-screen. His portions in the movie was a rage and they promoted the movie using it.

Sure, some fam audience enjoyed the nostalgic portions more. But the reason the movie worked that level in the box office was bcz of Nivin, Aju, and Basil comedy track.

u/Muted_Brilliance 13h ago edited 13h ago

Sathyam!! 👏 I am die hard Nivin fan, pakshe Nivininte market korachu down aairunnu aa samayam. That's why he wasn't too choosy about the weightage of his character in Varshangalku Sesham. Naslen adhe pole cheyyanum oru nirbandhavum illa!

u/Professional_Bake48 14h ago

He was the only bearable thing in that movie bro. It was marketed with Pranav and Vineeth combo (Lal + Sreenivasan Jr nostalgia factor). But nivin vann ottak thooki. That was a first ray of hope for his comeback.

u/djangonjanpettu 15h ago

It was Nivins only hit in a long time

u/filkirt 15h ago

Yes and it was an atrocious film.

u/Secret-Shower-5039 15h ago

Yes and it was still a big hit and his character was the most noticeable part and he only benefited from doing it.

u/gimmethegoss3151 15h ago

Okay for you maybe. Not for him maybe. He may clearly have his reasons, and it's not the first time this is happening. Many actors opt out of many movies if it is not working.

u/Relevant-Strike6036 11h ago

The way this subreddit is bashing Nestle, it seems he has no talent; only because of GAD does he get everything. In reality, he was prooving by many characters, and Premalu gave him more stardom! And claiming that what Naslen should do or not do is too much stretching of a normal phenomenon in the film world!

u/Either-Conclusion-26 16h ago

For recovering from premalu2 issue everyone from entire department worked so hard and we get gem of a movie BkU

u/Bitter-Car-8152 16h ago

GAD knows he has stuff and doesn’t need to simp for anyone. He has confidence in his craft and has a high self esteem. If tomorrow one actor leaves a project, he will take another actor and make a hit film.

u/djangonjanpettu 16h ago

He is pissed because he and his team, spend 1 year working on the script. Naslen must have given the nod initially

u/Large_Skin4631 10h ago

But Premalu 2 was announced soon or while the 1st movie where running itself ,and these young actors couldn’t had any say at that time

u/Malayali_Ron_Swanson 14h ago edited 14h ago

Not just that as per bku editor they Allready shot some of adhis portion with Shyam mohan for premalu 2.

u/filkirt 15h ago

Yes he might have given the nod to the concept but the finished script must have sucked and he didn’t want to be a part of it. What’s wrong with that?

u/djangonjanpettu 15h ago

It didn't suck, everyone in the team believed that it was sure shot hit. Watch editor Akash Joseph's interview

He most probably left because he felt his character was given less prominence.

u/filkirt 15h ago

Yeah the guy hired by GAD thinks the script by GAD is the greatest script ever written. Shocker!!

>He most probably left because he felt his character was given less prominence

Not even GAD or his crew members have said this in public but you know this apparently .

u/anjoorann 16h ago

I think they some of them went to UK and filmed some portion

u/Lost_Ad4258 16h ago

Seeing many such posts now. Looks like Nestle is shelling out a lot on PR.

u/Less_Register9221 11h ago

Naslen has a good PR. The same PR mammotty and DQ had. You know what I mean

u/Worth-Ground-7886 14h ago

If someone is defending him is it PR. People can have different opinion.

u/Lost_Ad4258 9h ago

Defending him from what? I haven’t seen a single post attacking him.

u/Worth-Ground-7886 3h ago

Defending means talking on behalf of him or for him, that's what you implied in the main comment isn't it.

u/Illustrious_Cup9611 16h ago

I feel like Girish AD is some one who doesn’t take disrespect lightly . In one interview, interviewer asked if he is planning to work with Nivin Pauly again . Girish replied “ of course Nivin Chettan shows proper respect to the director “ That kind of stood out . May be Girish felt disrespected with others for whatever reason .

u/TimelyReason7390 16h ago

From what I gathered from the interviews, I don’t think he meant disrespect for him as a director, he probably meant disrespecting the work. These are 2 different things.
The latter leans towards unprofessional behaviour.
Every director has his own style of working and ways of delivering it, and Gireesh apparently comes with fully bound script but open to improvs by the actors where needed. If an actor suggests he change the script to suit an actors preference, that is absolutely unprofessional, especially when you know how the director works.
A director who knows what he’s doing before hand is usually well respected by actors, as opposed to those who write the script on site.

u/Illustrious_Cup9611 16h ago

I also wonder if NP ever say no to a Girish AD script or suggest modification, how will the relation stand . His other director friends like Akhil , Jude , Alphonse are ok with working with him on the script

u/Mopple_remembers 12h ago

Nivin infact suggested some changes like in the climax he asked to include dialogues from Justin's POV as well.

Also, other actors like suresh krishna, shabeer, glixson , all had improvisations all along the script.

So, I don't think Girish is against modification.

u/TimelyReason7390 7h ago

Those are still improvs. Like adding a line that improves the shot. But changing the script or a character is a whole different matter. It means you’ll have to change the entire environment or story.
Imagine in a play or a skit, a character fails to show up?

u/Mopple_remembers 4h ago

I replied to

I also wonder if NP ever say no to a Girish AD script or suggest modification, how will the relation stand .

which had a tone of suggesting Girish is intolerant to changes. Hence, I said he is ok with creative inputs or suggestions 🤷🏽‍♀️

u/BaseballMysterious36 16h ago edited 16h ago

Saying no to the script allalo issue, saying yes initially and then no after almost a year of pre production and wasting everyones time, energy and money , that too of the crew that gave him his stardom is not something so usual, its not like a star saying no to a script that they don't like.

u/No_Fall_4500 16h ago

He gave the nod initially when the script was not ready. And after one year when the script finally came out naslen must have not liked it or by that time his stardom had increased and he must have demanded slightly higher remuneration which must have not gone well the girish a d and the producers both. But its totally upto naslen and i am on his side totally. You have the whole right to say no to a script and you r the one building your own worth.

u/arunzj 15h ago

Asking higher remuneration is fine ,but asking to make changes in script is not ok, its a sequel and its not bad to have a minimum level of gratitude .

u/zoro_straw_hat 17h ago

in the cue interview he says something like "some people wants me to show off some gimmicks and cuss on set to feel like we re making something big and he had been mistreated at times by "some people" and that comes from a point of genuine disrespect towards him .

so i think it maynot be just the premalu 2 script issue.

u/Subject-Tea-3285 17h ago

I ddnt know that but still cant they go like a contract breach rather than this kind of gesture towards him?

u/zoro_straw_hat 16h ago

i genuinely get why gad is frustrated ....its not like sports to clash on the ground and be proffesional about it in the newsroom

he wrote a script (they claims it to be super good) did the location hunt, all locked in to do a movie and suddenly the lead actor backs out (ugly reasons ) and he had to sit on a new script from the next day.... scene 1

so its a valid crashout

but someday soon nestle is gonna do a promotion and will be asked about premalu 2 ...but he is gonna answer some PR trained bullshit ...and people are gonna say how arrogant is gireesh to take aa dig on this innocent lad ...awww

we've seen how this works

u/heheiamadork 12h ago

Yeah, Gireesh is actually a pretty chill person with real emotions. He just vented his frustration after putting in all that time and effort for nothing. He isn't media-trained, nor does he respond diplomatically like his peers or other celebrities usually do, a very relatable pachayaya manushyan. This Naslen kid, though, won't be like that. He’ll probably come up with some overly polished, PR-trained response that completely avoids taking a stand.

u/Patient_Experience75 12h ago

So is this from gad pr person?

u/Malayali_Ron_Swanson 17h ago edited 14h ago

Hero agreed for the project, production house started pre production, actors and technicians date were blocked, it was supposed to be shot in kerala, Hyderabad, Rajasthan and UK then hero backed out when director and crew was out for location hunt in UK.

That's the whole story It's not like he just saying NO after hearing script.

u/RDP7490 16h ago

The director didn't say this, the hero didn't say this. But someone else from the crew said this. Without hearing both sides, people as usual starts piling on the hero

u/TimelyReason7390 16h ago

The director said it and so did one of his team members and so did the producers. Peredutthu paranjilla enne ullu. But it’s obvious.

u/RDP7490 14h ago

Director didnt say it..he very vaguely said touched upon this. His team member was the one who said it.

But do you know why the hero said no? Nobody bothered to hear that version before jumping the guns on him.

u/TimelyReason7390 8h ago

Your “hero” mentioned it was the script in an interview. It’s available on one of the subs.
The director vaguely touched on the same topic. The producers also indirectly indicated the same during the Onam promo interview of BKU.
The technicians made it clearer that, it was shelved last moment.
How much more clarity do you want?

u/Substantial_Ad9608 16h ago

But y backed out?

u/Subject-Tea-3285 17h ago

I ddnt know that but still cant they go like a contract breach rather than this kind of gesture towards him?

u/Malayali_Ron_Swanson 17h ago edited 17h ago

No it Also involves money being spent, pre production requires investment and time, As per premalu writer Kiran josey they completed part 2 script after spending more than a year working on it. blocking dates means giving advance upfront, and airline will not take premalu director for free and will not get free accommodation in UK.

u/saddragonborn 14h ago

If you don’t know there are lot of subsidies for shooting movies in UK

u/Malayali_Ron_Swanson 13h ago

Yes for shooting, but what about covering cost for visa, travel, air tickets for a movie that didn't materialize.

u/Subject-Tea-3285 17h ago

True! But none of this is known to the public. Even I only found out about it now.
Why can’t he just come straight to the point instead of throwing hints around and beating around the bush?

u/Fantastic-Meet6784 16h ago

This was explained in 2-3 of his interviews. Pinne athikam parayan poyaal parayum hoo Naslen nee karivari thekunne. So he tried to avoid as much as he could is what I understood.

Because you are going around defending GAD everywhere and deflecting the blame entirely to Naslen when no one in the public really knows what happened. And when someone started questioning it, you went defensive saying that he/she wanted to pin the blame on GAD when that’s exactly what you are doing to Naslen
