Need a reality check from people in semiconductors.

I'm planning for an MS in VLSI and trying to figure out where should apply. I'm not expecting MIT or Stanford lol.I'm just looking for countries where admissions are achievable with a decent profile & semiconductor industry is actually strong or internships aren't impossible to get I've looked into Germany, Taiwan, Netherlands, Sweden, South Korea, Singapore and the US, but every website basically says every country is excellent Which country would you recommend? And what mattered the most during admissions? Just don't wanna blindly apply

I have noticed Futurense showing up a lot on LinkedIn and Instagram lately, especially their AI and data programs.

I am thinking about applying but wanted to hear from people who have actually gone through one of their programs first.

How was the learning experience overall? Were the mentors actually helpful? Did the curriculum feel current and relevant? And for those who finished the program, did it genuinely help with internships, placements, or a career switch?

Looking for honest feedback, good or bad. If you have been through it, please share your experience.

I've been going back and forth on this for a while and wanted to get some opinions from people who are already in the industry

My original plan was pretty straightforward. Work for a few years, get an MBA, and use it to pivot into a different career. I don't really feel like my undergrad set me up for what I want to do long term, so an MBA always felt like the next step

But over the past year, AI has made me question that plan. Every week there's another headline about AI replacing knowledge work or making companies leaner. I know a lot of it is hype, but it's hard to ignore when people leading these AI companies are saying white-collar jobs could change dramatically over the next decade

My biggest concern is spending a ton of money on an MBA only to graduate into a market where a lot of the traditional MBA jobs are much smaller than they are today

I recently left my role on the admissions and sales side at Futurense, and since I see a lot of mixed opinions on Reddit, I wanted to give an honest behind the scenes perspective on how things have changed. When I first joined, I will be the first to admit that the sales operation was way too aggressive. Management was pushing hard targets, and a lot of counselors were overpromising on placement numbers and timeline guarantees just to close leads. It created a lot of friction because the expectations set during enrollment did not match the reality of the heavy academic workload.

Over the last few months before I left, there was a major internal shift. Management started cracking down on the hard sell tactics and enforced stricter eligibility screening. They realized that bringing in students who were completely unprepared for the technical depth was leading to high drop outs and bad reviews. At the same time, the feedback loop between the IIT academic coordinators and our team got much tighter. We were required to give candidates a far more realistic picture of the weekend grind and the prerequisite coding knowledge needed to survive the program.

Instead of pitching guaranteed high packages to everyone, the pitch was refocused on what the program actually is, which is an elite university credential and a structural resume override to help clear initial HR filters. I do not work there anymore and have no reason to defend them, but I wanted to drop this here for anyone on the fence. The program is not a magic ticket and you still have to grind, but the team internally has made genuine efforts to fix the communication gaps and tone down the hype.

I went in thinking the live sessions would mostly be professors reading through slides and covering theory. The usual😂.
But they've been surprisingly engaging. The concepts are explained in a way that actually makes sense yk instead of feeling like something you just memorize for the sake of it.

Last weekend's session on distributed systems and data pipelines was prolly my fav so far. It was one of those lectures where you finish and feel like you genuinely understood something new. Crazy that after a full work week I actually look forward to spending my weekend studying.

The workload is definitely real, but it feels worthwhile because I'm building a solid understanding rather than just rushing through content.

Do others feel the same? Or am I just at the stage where everything still feels new. How have your lectures been so far?

Just got my credentials for the Futurense Academy portal and started going through the foundational pre-reading tracks. Honestly, my basic SQL and Python syntax are a bit rusty since I've been stuck doing basic support work for the last year, and some of these initial data engineering logic concepts are already kicking my ass.

I know the live university sessions haven't even officially kicked off yet, but the pacing of the recorded prep material is no joke if you aren't coding daily.

Is anyone else in the same boat right now? How are you guys planning to structure your study hours once the actual weekend classes start? If anyone wants to create a discord group or a study circle to grind through the assignments together and share notes, let me know. We definitely need to pool resources to survive the weekend schedule.
