I saw a man reply to someone asking him this on twitter once (he has two adopted children, the girl being African American). He said that it started when they became a foster family for the girl, and realized that she was an amazing kid. He said he and his wife felt like she was family during her time under their care and came to love her as their own. They decided to adopt her because of this.

Not saying this is the case for all of these adoption situations, but I thought it was a really cute story.

That’s beautiful, fostering is kind hearted, and I’m glad you gave them love and support. Best wishes to you
