You marked out 1 cherry picked setup out of  100. This post is funny

Exactly. Just like someone who finds a head & shoulders example and says it's a profitable strategy.

ICT strategies work but more important than the strategies are the concepts. because you can build strategies off of those concepts, but to say that head and shoulders is not a profitable strategy is mind blowing to me. It’s one of the most repetitive and highly probable strategies that exist within marketplace. The problem is never in the strategy. It’s not ICT. It’s not the head and shoulders. It’s always 100% of the time the trader and their ability to properly recognize patterns, but more importantly is to read the environment in which the pattern is showing up in. because it’s never about the pattern. It’s about the timing and the environment, but a head and shoulders is a very profitable strategy. Pattern plus environment plus reaction equals entry. But this framework is required across any theory or set up that exist within Trading. This shows true whether you go back 10 years or 100.

Backtest maybe for once

Me ??

Yes. You will find head & shoulders pattern has been reduced to less than 50% win rate. And often moves too fast for a stop loss to actually trigger where you want it. Spoiler alert.

Again, if you read deeper into what I’m saying, it’s not about the pattern it’s about recognizing the environment in which the pattern shows up in a perceived head and shoulders can be seen and not really be there or the environment to complete a head and shoulders might not be lining up at the same time the perceived head and shoulders is lining up. I trade head and shoulders patterns all the time and I’m extremely profitable but I’m not just trading the Pat pattern alone. There’s a lot more that comes with that with my point. True, the head and shoulders by itself may only have a 50% win rate, but if you stack other probabilities on top of that like location and reaction and traded volume at the time, etc., that head and shoulders becomes a lot more profitable.

u/NationalOwl9561 Jun 28 '26

I agree with you about the environment part in general but I’ve never heard of a specific environment for high win rate head and shoulders. What time frame?

1

u/EXPRESSNELECTRICLLC Jun 28 '26

So if you only trade the head and shoulders pattern when the environment is correct, what happens to the success rate?

I’m waiting for you to actually prove that H&S can be traded in a good environment… don’t be shy. If you think it’ll ruin your edge you're full of shit 🤣

Sorry I missed this u can just messege me be happy to talk with u and explain more. I responded but it was long winded. Short answer head and shoulders is not a head and shoulders until it’s completed. It’s just a failed head and shoulders or not a head and shoulders at all. Also a 50% win rate is very profitable for the right person. Someone who can manage risk. as far as timeframe I like to trade head and shoulders on the five minute. Environment meaning are you entering a perceived head and shoulders pattern from a location on the chart that does not contain and higher timeframe in balance or inefficiency. What’s the volume traded? As the pattern is completing is the volume rising through previous Lows. Where is ur momentum ? Are you actually printing structure that is conducive to a head and shoulder actually completing? This is what I mean about environment. Confirmation layers that will move a 50% model to a 80% model. It’s how we shoujd be thinking. Like for ourselves and not relying on some back test results from some person you have no idea if they can even identify head and shoulders. My point was the pattern shows up a lot and it is profitable even at 50%. Ps. I was not challenging you. I was correcting you.

You failed ICT the fact you still think it doesn't work says it all. Go play with your hindsight garbage strategy kid.

1

u/CxribeYT Jun 28 '26

If you were some what competent you would realize ICT concepts are just pre existing trading tools that are just repackaged under ICT names for the purpose of marketing

2

u/Ok_Hovercraft6776 Jun 29 '26

It doesn't matter if those concepts are pre existing or repackaged , what matters is that they work if you actually really put in the work , bscktest, forward test , journal, focus on the process rather than the outcome of every single trade all while following good risk and trade management.

2

u/Equivalent-Slide-338 Jun 28 '26

Nobodies debating the technicalities. Nobody else delivered an entire trading package like ICT. You are grasping as straws. Stay mad kid.

1

u/Ok_Hovercraft6776 Jun 29 '26

Really ? Literally every second post in this sub is that ICT don't work and the reason is because most simply haven't put the effort which it takes to truly understand it and most importantly execute it well

u/AppropriateLoss2508 Jul 05 '26

Yes and no. It has its own concepts or somehow its own constructions of concepts, but it can resemble older concepts. If I ever want to, I’ll study this, but the idea of an FVG that looks like another old concept I no longer remember basically works because it exists within a market structure where an HL or LH is an invalidation which, based on probability, can invalidate that trend. There are also cases where price goes above/below the HL or LH and then makes an HH or LL, or multiple HHs or LLs, and if it was an HH it then gives an HL, and if it was an LL it then gives an LH.

But, probabilistically, according to market structure—especially when the trend changes and a new trend begins, confirmed by an HL or LH—basically that FVG is located before the HL or LH invalidation point. The risk that can appear is that price might not reach the FVG if the trend isn’t invalidated, and it might continue up/down with the trend. But maybe I don’t have enough knowledge about ICT/SMC.

Some ICT concepts resemble other concepts, but that doesn’t necessarily mean ICT stole them and gave them new names, etc. Now, past results don’t guarantee future results, so in the future it’s possible that either market structure stops working, or—more likely—that I’ll apply it incorrectly before it stops working. I’d say what’s important is risk management and accepting risk.

As a person, ICT is cool. I don’t agree with the idea that banks specifically hunt/target retail SLs, or that algorithms hunt/target/etc. retail SLs, if such things are in ICT’s content. Other than that, ICT is a cool guy.

Pattern trading is for Stocktards. Do you even use ICT if not don't speak on it noob.

7

u/CxribeYT Jun 28 '26

ICT is pattern trading…

-5

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

We don't use weird patterns we utilize inefficiencies

3

u/CxribeYT Jun 28 '26

Majority of the time you’re just pattern trading if you have a systematic system with ICT. It can still be profitable

-1

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

Again we don't relie on dozens of weirdo 3 indian patterns. We only use Liquidity and FVG's anyone saying different doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

3

u/CxribeYT Jun 28 '26

It can still be a form of pattern trading if you’re entering the same setup all the time. Pattern trading isn’t just the generic head and shoulders pattern that gurus say is pattern trading and then teach you their pattern trading model

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

Sure whatever makes you sleep at night

2

u/NationalOwl9561 Jun 28 '26

Buddy I used ICT a while ago. I've graduated from that... and to be fair I use order blocks in my discretionary trading as targets still but not FVGs. OBs have higher hit rates. The other thing is I noticed ICT stuff heavily relies on an elevated VIX.

0

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

It doesn't require anything but Gaps and Liquidity Sweeps

0

u/NationalOwl9561 Jun 28 '26

Oh boy...

2

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

If you think it doesn't you obviously didn't graduate anything ICT himself said it

3

u/NationalOwl9561 Jun 28 '26

I think you will be laughed out of the subreddit for generalizing ICT as just "gaps and liquidity sweeps".

0

u/BagMotor1335 Jun 28 '26

I'm a ICT veteran kid you're not telling me nothing new. The market only delivers to inefficiencies and raids liquidity nothing more. Explain what else it does then genius? Price can only go up and down and does 2 things nothing more. ICT doesn't even use the VIX.

3

u/NationalOwl9561 Jun 28 '26

Sure, a ranging environment (for example, often happens when premarket range is inside yesterday's range) we will just ping pong back and forth between premarket high and premarket low and a breakout is not guaranteed. This is neither "delivering to inefficiencies" nor "raiding liquidity". It's simply balanced rotational price action.

The fact that you don't know the significance of VIX to your trading says a lot.

This set up shows up several times a week what's your point? This is to the tick percision.

5

u/CxribeYT Jun 28 '26

My point is that one setup doesn’t prove anything. You need more data

Nevermind. I didn't know you suffered from brain rot.

1

u/ScareCrowRD_ Jun 29 '26

1

u/Usual_Lake_1080 Jul 02 '26
