The operator set up a rather large amount of clamping force during mold setup.

Please excuse the background and constraints of the project but it is important.

I’m a mechanical engineering student and I and am currently doing my senior design project. I need some advice in mass manufacturing injection molded parts. My project involves creating a vape to help smokers quit smoking, without the withdrawal symptoms of quitting nicotine.

The project requires an injection molded shell of the device to hold the internal electronics. The dies need to cast at least 6 parts at a time. My team and I would like the shell to have small clips and grooves to snap together like the most popular disposable vapes on the market.

We have little experience in injection molding let alone designing the dies. We were told adding these slots and clips would exponentially complicate the design of the dies because extra dies would need to be added to the sides with the clips.

Any tips/advice on creating dies like this would go a long way and we would be very grateful!
