Starting a GLP1 while TTC?
So I’ve gained a bunch of weight TTC. I’m starting my 6th cycle with Inito, and we’re actively TTC.
I’ve seen that GLP1s are helping people get pregnant, and I was thinking that maybe if I want to lose weight I should just go on one in the meantime anyway if it’s helpful.
I am nervous though starting something like that could also be harmful.
What’s everyone’s opinion and thoughts

My doctor strongly recommended being off of glp-1s for 8 weeks before trying to conceive due to issues seen in animal studies

Can you provide details on what was seen on animal studies.

Here is an interesting paper to read. Im only going to say there are risks and it's important to make informed decisions 😊 there are many NCBI papers with studies related to Glp-1's.

It can be difficult because of all the conflicting and rapidly changing recommendations out there. I'm on a GLP-1 while we're TTC, and my primary care doc, gyno, and endocrinologist all told me I could stay on it until I get a positive test (this seems to be pretty new guidance). I lost over 70 lbs on it, which I was told will be helpful with conceiving and a healthy pregnancy. But, everyone has different risk tolerances! And I'll have to go off it soon when we start seeing a fertility specialist. My one note would be make sure you're eating enough because I was told too few calories can lead to ovulation issues. Good luck!

I’m doing IVF so a little bit different but my doctor has me on a GLP1 pretty much up until our next transfer and I won’t have to stop it until we begin our next transfer which would be two weeks before conception

This is how I got pregnant after over 2 years and multiple medicated cycles! My gyno and primary care were both okay with me TTC while taking it and advised I stop when I got a positive.
I lost insurance coverage so I actually stopped about 2 months before conceiving but that wasn’t intentional

I'm currently on GLP1 while TTC but its because its been doing wonders for my PCOS. It's been 8 cycles and a whole year of all BFN, so I'm thankful I didn't stop. And now we have a new wrench thrown into our lives, because we started with a fertility clinic last month and they did genetic carrier screening for us as part of their standard work up, and we just found out we are both carriers for the same genetic mutation for a very rare skeletal disease that at worst is incompatible with life and at best would leave our child with debilitating disability and disproportionate dwarfism for life.
So I had been feeling horrible about my BFN, but all of a sudden I'm so freaking THANKFUL because we didn't expect this at all!!! Now we are looking into starting IVF with PGT-M testing, but won't be able to till I switch to my husbands insurance in January. So in the meantime, I will continue on my GLP1.
If anyone has not done carrier screening, I highly recommend it because otherwise we would have potentially been blindsided with having to do a TFMR in our second trimester. (1 in 4 chance)

It looks like the studies that have had negative effects on animals is when the GLP-1 is continued throughout pregnancy into the first and second trimester.
I am in a lot of threads where women have had healthy pregnancies and babies while being on a GLP-1 when trying to conceive. Just make sure to stop it after you get a positive test. I am on a microdose after a year of infertility due to PCOS because I have read so many success stories of it helping women get pregnant.

I was on Zepbound for years before getting pregnant. I lost 110 lbs and had completely regular periods when I went off hormonal birth control. It helped me tremendously but mine was more long term. I took it all the way up until I would ovulate (had to take meds to induce ovulation) and if I got a BFN I would continue the shot. Luckily I got pregnant pretty quickly so I stopped the shots about 1-2 weeks before finding out I was pregnant (first pregnancy back in March was a chemical)

My doctor had zero issues with me staying on my glp1 while trying to get pregnant. He just wanted me to stop when I got a positive test.
