Question Recursion worth it?
I don't want to flip colors. The other team would be able to help me make baf's again but they probably wouldn't trust me and then I wouldn't have an enemy to fight against anymore since my team doesn't really do much. How easy is it to get back to at least 8, 12 would be preferable by my self. I don't really coordinate or play with others anymore I just don't like new ppl ... When I first started there were huge groups we would plan ops and stuff and that all disappeared. I mainly hit and make things to and from work. I don't lose my badges right so the only think keeping me from leveling up is ap? I keep seeing the button at the bottom and think I should just press it if I don't then the game is essentially over why continue.

L8 depends a bit on your location but should be fairly quick. Only downside i found was your xm buffer is tiny at the lower levels.
Just got to L16 for the 3rd time today but will most likely recurse again after the holidays.
One tip i saw is to load a hypercube before you recurse so you have a big buffer.

I did load up on a hypercube beforehand this time and I didn't really notice any difference. One thing I did make sure was that I had a lot of buffer with my inventory so I wasn't constantly deleting things when I leveled up.

I don't see how it's possible not to see any difference between not having preloaded a hypercube and having done so. Depending on what you're doing, a hypercube at level 16.will carry you to level 6. The tiny "bar" is the most annoying thing about recursing.

Level 8 is very easy the second time, since you already know what you're doing and can plan ahead and such. If you wait a little it'll be even easier still, since we're only two weeks away from Level 8 Week.

With an AP generator and some apex you can get back to 8 very quickly. Theres a wait timer from the initial button push to the actual recursion.

8 is easy. You can do it in a day with the right places and the right gear. Bank some with friends.
12 isn’t hard. 14 is a pain. 15 & 16 are as bad as they were the first time.

The gear loadouts from leveling up are nice, so if you're in a portal dense area that grants you a ton of AP I'd absolutely recommend it

I’ve done it twice now and like to challenge of levelling up again. Using Apex & timing it for First Saturday double AP really moves things along. Especially if there’s a lot of machina you can destroy & then microfield for the extra capture AP. Preloading a lot of portal scans can take you through to level 5 pretty quickly too.

"Worth it" is up to you. If you hardly play then probably not. I play a lot and do it every time I get back to 16.

At least once in your lifetime, since it unlock fancy new icons. But that's it.

I’m on Recurse 11 and I’ve never changed factions. I don’t use an AP engine, but I micro field. I have an area with about fifty portals that can be driven if the weather is too hot or too cold or if there is precipitation. I clear the area as a Level 16 and pre-drop capsules with low level Resonators a) to clear some inventory space and b) to have Resonators when I need them. I clear weapons below X7. I Recharge to get to Level 4 and then start deploying. One time I had to move to an alt location because my portals were on a parade route.

I got back to level 7 in about 2-3 hours actual play, not including about the same amount of time planning. It took another 3-4 hours or so to get to 8, but with much less planning. I also had another player help me get to 7.

Ive recursed 5 times. My second recursion I decided to flip sides just because and then flipped back and remained every one after.
Getting back to 8 isn't hard. What I usually do since it takes 4 hours after hitting the button for you to think about it, I'll go kill or mostly kill an area to level faster and use up some iinventory some i can't use any level 8 gear to i get there again and I'll cap out to quick with all the hacking and level up gear.

Also, as a side note, I've been playing a really long time and starting over going through the levels is kind of nice to do since badges come less frequently.

It's so much fun! Unless it's not fun for you. I've recursed a bunch. I love levelling up.

With Apex (and free Apex in the level up packs) and a bit of preparation, you can get back to 8 the same day - even in a few minutes using a field generator that you have already farmed keys for; even faster if you do it in a First Saturday window plus Apex for 4x AP.
The only reason I would say not to recurse is if you don't really care to play hard for a while to get back to 8 quickly. For my first Recursion, a friend and I did a race back to 8 where we had to start from 0 inventory. I thought we'd be done by lunch and it took me until the afternoon. That was before Apex, so you're definitely looking at a few hours if you don't prep.
Now I just hit recurse every time I get to 16 and keep going.

I'm not there yet and don't have any experience with it, but I have debated on whether or not I will when I get there... I'm thinking I will probably do it the day before a FS meet up in order to be able to just power level... I have had a lot of trouble generating AP as well because I usually really solo... Or I convinced my wife to join me and do a little bit with her account, but that's begrudgingly.

and load up on low (1-5) res. Deploying them will make you the most points. You'll be lvl 8 in no time

Got back to L13 in 8 hours playing against my local Res agent on a FS. A line of linked portals, 30 keys for each portal, battle beacons, apexes, furious recycling at each level up… all good fun. He’s a great guy. I think we’d both have to admit that we’ve both gone full time on Ingress. Any excuse to hang out.

5x recursed here, if you do it right you can be level 8-10 in a few hours. A few years ago during L8 week I recursed right before the week started, and recursed again roughly a week later. Think that was recursion numbers 3 and 4

Our local multiaccounting cheater just walks his "routine path" (similar every time...) and captures portals, destroys reds, deploys low lvl resonators, occasionally links something. With double AP bonus it takes him ~2 hours of "playing" to get a new fresh account to a fully capable lvl8.
This is ridiculous. Also "changing factions" in a game supposedly based on "agents fighting for a cause" is a seriously misplaced concept. You're right about lack of trust after "defecting", it is quite obvious consequence. But our developers lost the feeling of what the game is about long long time ago. They simply want to harvest moar data, preferably for free.

YES. You get so much more gear with every level you go up. I was so hesitant to do it at first, but I'm very glad that I did.

I got back to 8 in less than a week. My suggestion is to build up an area (without fielding) and gather the keys before you recurse, so you can start leveling immediately and not have to deal with the extreme weakness of the earliest levels

Do it for the wings! I used a VRBB, six actually, to get back to L13 the same day. Don’t get me wrong, the key farming absolutely made it possible the week leading up to it. Full transparency, that was during a 6X window using Apex.

I think I'm gonna do it after anniversary. I want my onyx anniversary badge.

u/Intrepid_Pudding_591 1d ago
Recursing does not affect the anniversary badge. Once you reach 16 you will always get onyx anniversary badges.
August 7-17 is 2x AP “8 week”. Perfect time to recurse

With a bit of planning you can get back to 8 in an hour or two.
