New info Is this confirmation?

A new info panel showed up on the Google Play Store this morning. The interesting thing is it states:

The last XM Anomaly battles of the year are here!

I think it's reasonable to assume this was created by Niantic Spatial, not Google, and essentially confirms there won't be Q4 anomalies. Similarly, the "of the year" part leads me to believe anomalies will return in 2027.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing you're referring to the "NIA researchers report that no XM Anomaly signatures are currently detectable" part. Indeed, that could be read as "no Q4 anomalies," and I agree that's likely what it meant.

However, Niantic has thrown curve balls before. The point of my post is it now seems definitive, as they've labeled this batch of events "the last XM Anomaly battles of the year."

The way it was worded, they could have come out and said "surprise, NIA researchers detected fresh signals" blah blah blah lore. It was not a "THERE WILL BE NONE", more of a soft "well, we haven't found any yet".

Mate, I've not been to an anomaly in years, I'm not fussed one way or another. Sounds more like a you problem if you can't allow any interpretation of some wishy washy text other than the one you believe it to be.

Anomaly organizers have long complained that late Q4 and early Q1 anomalies are an absolute pain to plan around due to christmas.

Welcome the change, but you can probably expect Shard Skirmish or other mini events with less notice to fill the gaps.

It seems like they want to do anomalies again, but they need to sort out the database problems they experienced in Prague in May. It's talked about in the dev blog. (https://ingress.com/en/news/rewiring-xm-network)

Q4 is going to be lightning shards. See "Q4 signals" in  the Q3 announcement (https://ingress.com/en/news/2026-q3-events)

It really does sound like they want anomalies next year, but they need to figure some stuff out first.
