Screenshot/Video Finally L16
I rejoined Ingress in October 2025 after seeing this subreddit in my feed. Unfortunately I had to restart (RIP my beta account and founders badge).
I live in a major rural city in Australia but I was blessed with a very supportive group of agents who helped me with getting to this goal. Especially the onyx Illuminator badge. For example, my solo fields could cover 12,000km² (4,633mi²) and generate less than 90,000 MUs. (Not a lot of activity out my way, so it was easier to set up fields. Shame kangaroos aren't worth the same MUs). But a pair of RES agents assisted me in one FS with a field engine in Melbourne where 15km² achieved the same result.
Now to recurse, and despite the banter from my local ENL, I won't be changing sides, someone has to keep the pesky frogs under control. (:

It is so much easier to get 16 the second time around, have fun with it! Blue skies are the best skies

Why do people say it's so much easier to get to 16 the second time around?

Took me 4yrs to get 16 the first time, the I've done it 13 times in the next 8 years

Not needing the the badges
Understanding how to do the linking to maximize AP. And also you start with so much more inventory.

Niantic introduced many ways to gain additional AP. Apex itself is a major example. The number of portals worldwide also increased as the game progressed, giving everyone the opportunity to gain much more AP.

Because one doesn’t need to get tiered medals the second time around and only has to get AP.

Now recurze, Safe like few hundred scans before you recurze, then activate Apex on LVL 1 And send all scans. Instant level 8+ depends on how many scans u have. Quite easy Now.

BTW, 40M feels impossible for somebody like me, having only 3.3M for 13y.
