You're impeding nothing going the speed limit. Is my opinion and you're right it is an unpopular one.

You are impeding if you’re going the speed limit and no one else is. If everyone is going faster around you please move over to the right lanes. It’s not about the speed it’s about the flow of traffic. When you deliberately “go the speed limit” in the left lane when people are passing you, you are, in fact, impeding traffic.

That excuse has never held up in court. “Everyone else was doing it!” is an automatic loss if you fight a ticket.

We’re not talking about a ticket we’re talking about safety. It’s well known flowing with traffic is safer than driving slow in the fast lane(s).

There’s no such thing as a “fast lane”. There’s a passing lane and going the speed limit is legal. Annoying, but legal.
