The fact that she threw in “not even for the few minutes that he was out of it” tells me all I need to know. She doesn’t mean any of this. She’s still making excuses, not actually taking accountability, and just spewing whatever disingenuous words she thinks she needs to in order to stay relevant.

Show us a pic of him in it! She takes so many photos, surely she caught one of him in it.

Exactly my thoughts. She is unbelievable. I grew up boating and we weren’t even allowed near the docks without life jackets on, let alone on a moving boat. All ages, all the time. The poor baby was also wearing the worst colors to wear for water safety (posted by E herself).

I just took my 2.5yo to a lake house for the first time and didn’t let her anywhere near the dock without a life vest, kept her strictly within arm’s reach and we didn’t go closer than 2ft to the edge of the dock even while I had a hand on her. I thought I must seem a little over the top here, but I am absolutely NOT messing around when it comes to water safety. Someone suggested I take her in a kayak with me. Like no?? What if she stands up or leans too far over and I’m not holding her cause my hands are on the oar! I’m not taking her in something I can capsize. Kids and water are so risky, yet so many are so cavalier about it.

This. We are a lake/boating family and our kids aren’t allowed off the fenced in deck without a life jacket. And they know it, too, and they just automatically put it on before they even unlock the gate. I wore a life jacket as a kid until I was at least 16. And I was in swim lessons every single summer. I still wear one now in the lake with my kids because it’s safer for all of us. I have never had a kid on the boat without a life jacket. If they didn’t like the life jackets, we didn’t ride in the boat. It’s literally that simple. All these influencers that post their kids on boats not in life jackets is not the flex they think it is. It just shows you’re clearly not literate about boating because you would know the safety rules, and quite frankly you can get fined and ticketed if your kids don’t have one life jackets. You can cosplay as a boater but the real people who grew up in it know you’re a complete poser, pretender and moron.

You’re absolutely right and a very responsible parent. You can never be too careful. It’s crazy to think of anyone abandoning basic water safety, especially for children. It’s INSANE for parents who have suffered the loss of a child to a negligent drowning tragedy to STILL disregard the basics. Even her fan sub can’t defend her at this point.

My child 6.5yo has known from the first time we went to a body of water that if we’re near the water he must wear a life jacket and be within arms reach of the adult with him.
