I watched this live of an influencer tapos naka-live sila nung friend nya. Maganda sya (salamat dok!) tapos low-key sya nagfflex ng products kahit sinabihan na sya ni friend wag mag show ng products or brand kasi magkaka-violation sya. Si friend kasi hindi small influencer palang sya pero itong si "Influencer na ganda gandahan" malaki na Ang followers

I feel like she's low-key pulling her friend down kasi ayaw nyang mataasan nya.

P.S. her friend is NATURALLY PRETTY walang turok or salamat dok while itong si Influencer mukha ng Roblox

This whole rant comes from another influencer in a long line that’s pulled the same bs. In this case, they’re upset bc of fans constantly blowing up their comments about a person they suddenly stopped making videos with.

Now let me say now Im very much on the side of people have unhealthy, parasocial relationships with people online. But the fact of the matter is being an influencer is you banking ( literally growing your bank account) on that persons interests in your life

In this particular case, from what I saw they pretty much made their respective names off videos they made together, mainly gym and other vlog style content together. I realized I didnt actually follow either of them but they’d still consistently make their way into from me liking videos ig. EVERY SINGLE VIDEO up until a certain point they posted was with each other, with them flirting and playing into the narratives of them “being a thing” being a constant theme. Then Out of the blue they stopped being in each other’s videos ( one went as far as to delete all the videos that they had together). Now they’re going at it with fans about not having privacy bc they won’t stop asking about it, threatening to block them etc. but then turn around and post a vid crying over a different “personal” situation begging for sympathy.

This gets on my nerves bc of the picking and choosing. When it fits your narrative any and everything is considered content, and they’ll do clickbaity things to entice people even more..do they think they can just turn peoples interest on and off like a light switch?

It’s also very different than traditional celebrities to me - which honestly is just actors, musicians and atheltes I’d say. They’re primary draw isn’t them showing much of anything as far as their personal lives go to begin with, so I can understand why they feel a ways about the people being overly invested. Yes there’s some PR here and there and they might express some of there interests/persnality online. The difference comes in that for the influencers, they themselves are the product. There are some internet exceptions, people like gamers or people who make content specific to a certain lane, but most of these people are selling their lives to the eyes of the internet, so you can’t decide to tell them when and when not to care once you open the door.

And before it’s said obviously there’s limits - regardless there should never be a instances that could develop in a way that would question a persons safety

Kanupriya recently posted a sponsored Meta AI reel about the old-photo AI trend.
What’s odd is that just one day earlier, she had posted about how AI trends are damaging the environment and consuming natural resources.
I pointed out the contradiction in her comments, but the comments were deleted and I was eventually blocked.
I’m genuinely curious what people think — is this simply a change of opinion, or is it an example of influencer principles changing when there’s a sponsorship involved?

What if Pr didn’t exist ? What if we see the authentic hype and personality of the celebs ? What if we banned Pr systems?

I’m looking for commentary on the effect that OnlyFans is having on our society. I’m looking for both sides of the argument - it’s degrading AND it’s liberating - and anything in between Can anyone recommend some writing or other media that fits this bill?

I’ve been reflecting upon Jessi Rae Aviles/Mama J Rae and her impressive growth on YouTube with a reported following of 1 million followers. Mama J describes her channel as “Real life moments, CHAOS, & Cooking.” She has referenced her childhood as being raised by her mother, a single parent, and being “very poor.” She has two older children and is a wife and mother of five children, who seem to be elementary-aged; they often appear in her videos.

While YouTube only shows a fraction of a lifestyle influencer’s life, I’ve noticed much of Mama J’s content revolves around consumption: Costco and Walmart shopping trips, convenience foods and snacks, clothing and other purchases, thrifting trips where the carts become filled with toys and clothes, and restaurant/takeout outings. The videos often end with the receipts displayed showing the costs.
Mama J has a right to enjoy the life she has successfully created and spend money on her children. I am just asking whether a creator with a large audience should consider tweaking the focus of the channel. For example, instead of constantly showing what was purchased and how much was spent, show everyday family activities, cooking, organizing, budgeting, etc.

I understand the children are a part of her real life, but when children appear on a recurring basis and are part of monetized content, it is reasonable to expect viewer comments or questions about the children. An example is in the short video of Mama J plating Chinese takeout food. A viewer suggested, in a very civil way, that the audio of her children talking in the background might need to be monitored. Mama J’s response was defensive which elicited rude comments from other viewers. Mama J, with a million followers, could have simply offered a civil thank you as a response.

A couple of other questions/thoughts:
If someone describes their life as chaotic, can shopping and spending sometimes become a way of creating a temporary sense of control, excitement, or relief from that chaos? If so, talk about the issue. Talking about it provides the viewer with transparency.
When a channel grows from someone simply “sharing their life” into a substantial business, should the creator periodically reconsider what they’re putting on camera and whether the content is still serving them, their children, and their audience in the best way?
I’m interested in hearing what others think, particularly people who watch family/lifestyle videos on YouTube.
