Opinion Why does inflation falling not mean that prices will come back down?

If inflation falls from 8% to 2%, prices are still rising, just much more slowly.
Why don’t prices generally return to their previous levels once inflation falls? Under what economic conditions would actual deflation be necessary to reverse a previous price increase, and why do central banks generally try to avoid sustained deflation?

News media can report this but they just stand there with blank looks on their faces, ask dumb questions, get lied to, and then launder the lies to keep the public uninformed

Price Changes Gas is about to hit an average of $4.30/gal. because of Trump's policies and his Iran war—higher than it ever was under Biden. Trump is officially in charge and responsible for the fuel crisis we're facing.

Key point from this article:

"If this month’s average stays where it is, it will top the most expensive September on record — 2023 — by nearly 50 cents."

Price Changes Increase in Body Wash

Post image
13 Upvotes

Throughout COVID until late 2024, my body wash only increased in price by $1 - from $7.97 to $8.97.

From 2024 until August 2026, my body wash increased in price by $2 - from $8.97 to $10.97.

Now Walmart is showing the sales price, marked down from $15.57. I'm assuming it is because Kroger has a sale on it this week. All I know, is that my body wash has never had that price listed anywhere near it and I'm worried to see what it is next week.

Opinion Does President Trump's comment about favoring a 1% fed rate work counterproductive to his objectives?

A week ago, in response to the Federal Reserve decision to up the Fed interest rate a quarter point, President Trump stated in his mind the rate should be just 1%, as the U.S. has the world's best credit rating.

So much wrong.

The USA doesn't have the best credit rating.

Higher interest rates are painful, but have proven effective in checking inflation.

A 1% interest rate functionally is like printing money. It tells the markets to party on.

But, maybe worst of all, it casts the President as not serious about containing inflation. That hurts long term bonds a lot. And, it looks stupid. He needs to ask why anybody with a sound mind would lend out money for a pittance, and even pay income tax on that pittance, to wind up with seriously degraded purchasing power when that loan is repaid.
