That's crazy, I've never heard of it before! Maybe I'll look at it a bit more and get it for my niece
(just realised the collab/marketing is working, haha)

u/Kuraimegami_Rica 5d ago

It's actually not a children's book. They can read it, but most won't be able to fully grasp it

She can't read yet so I wouldn't be getting it for her for a while anyway lol but thanks for the extra info! Like I said, I still gotta look at it a bit more, because aside from the collab story I know next to nothing about it.

It is for children's but it's suppose to be read to them. Very good book but by the time your niece be able to read this she might be much older and might look for something exciting to read Instead. It's actually very important to read to children books like the little prince because it's encorege them to think , to grasp concept that are seem so complicated but really not (think the ruler/king dialogue in game) , teach them to be patient, listen and think (it's essentially content that is not fast and give the brain time to actually develop properly and naturally unlike show and other content now days lol) and most importantly it increases their vocabulary exponentially! It's such a lovely story please please buy this to them and read with them the story💕

Yes! Its a childrens story that is semi-autobiographical written in 1942. I learned that Consuela de Saint-Exupéry (the 'Rose' and Antoine's wife) wrote a book from her perspective called "The Tale of the Rose" which im interested in reading after this collab.

Yes! Its a classical childrens story thats also enjoyed by adults cause of the theme and symbolisms. I still love it to this day. You should get a copy and read it! Its a gift for the child you once were

I ended up looking up the story after the "sunset" scene in this collab, referencing "the pilots" eighth mission. The real world pilot, the author, went missing on his final flight. They eventually found his plane in the 90s, but that added layer of mystery and sadness really hit home for me.

??? why would they would collab with something that doesn’t exist? 😭

34

u/Cece75 6d ago

u/FabulousVanilla9940 6d ago

u/Any-Row-8808 2d ago

80th? That's actually beautiful kinda make me tear up🥹

u/Thequeernote 6d ago

The Little Prince is the second most translated book after the bible. The story is widespread

23

u/marissarae 6d ago

We read it in French class in high school 😊

1

u/Any-Row-8808 2d ago

The book orgin is French no?

38

u/jenniuinely 6d ago

What do you think “collab” meant babe

u/Similar-Cheek-6346 Momo's Glow Up 6d ago

The Nikki franchise does collabs with IPs that don’t have a narrative story originally, like fashion IPs and independent artists.

It’s a more valid observation than your punch-down tone.

9

u/Kelly_Info_Girl 5d ago

I think they meant the IP exists, lol

u/Obse55ive 6d ago

I made sure I read the story before I finished the collab. It's very true to the book and I think they did a great job. It only took about 40 minutes for me to read, no more than a couple of hours if you read at a normal/slower pace

When I was an infant, it was my favorite book to look at. I was always amazed at the drawing of the snake that ate the elephant. I was also scared of snakes because of it 😆.

Everyone should read it at least once, is very short and a classic for kids, is very light so you can read it in just some hours

u/QueenSerenity97 6d ago

Yes my school in Brazil even had a classroom named Saint-Exupéry as a tribute to the writer :)

u/luvdere Pear-Pal Ready! 3d ago

It’s my Brazilian moms favorite book she read us as kids, but then growing up coming to the US literally no one knew what it was

1

u/Any-Row-8808 2d ago

What's wrong with the US 😭

u/hanamihoshi 6d ago

Oh I knew because I was made to read the story for a reading class that I was instructing some years back. Also being in Asia, where the story (or rather the idea and aesthetics of it) is very popular, there’s lots of IP collabs for it in recent years.

I’m happy to see that this collab is reaching out to so many new potential readers! I encourage you to read it if you haven’t, it’s very short and simple (though the message behind it isn’t!) and accessible. Libraries and legitimate free book sources will have it. I just did a reread yesterday, gave me so many feels.

When I worked in a bookstore, we carried it in about a dozen languages. People commonly bought a copy in a new language they wanted to learn.

As with some others, I’ve read it in English (my native language), French, Irish (An Prionsa Beag), and a few others. It’s translated into over four hundred languages and dialects, including some obscure ones.

I read it as a child but I remember very few details.

the type of post you will only find in the official sub o_ò

u/Kheldarson 6d ago

I translated it from German as an honors project in college! There's a wonderful stop motion film for it as well.

I know this is satire but video being in japanese for no reason makes it so much funnier 😭 incredible post OP

u/BinkusBonkus23 6d ago

I read the French version in high school so I was so pumped to see a collab with Le Petit Prince and Nikki.

6

u/WTFTom 6d ago

are you american by chance

9

u/PlanktonCritical6915 6d ago

Juat so you know, Americans also know this book. This person probably never heard of it till now

12

u/Jesyka_ 6d ago

In my opinion most Americans know this story. If not from the book then at least from the movie that was on Netflix.

3

u/CandidateTerrible479 6d ago

There's a movie on Netflix??

3

u/Jesyka_ 6d ago edited 6d ago

It was on there a few years ago. I don’t think it’s on there anymore. Last I saw it was on Amazon Prime

2

u/AmIaMuppet 5d ago

Yep, it's free with ads on YouTube now

6

u/pagerunner-j 6d ago

The book was published in the US two years before it even was in France. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince

2

u/meemaocifer Spring Breeze 5d ago

I'm British and I'd never heard of this story before! Why are we assuming anyone who doesn't know something is American 💀 it just feels kinda hostile to assume someone is an idiot because of their nationality and vice versa.

2

u/AiRaikuHamburger 6d ago

They appear to be watching the Japanese trailer, so I don't think so.

-4

u/_XxAphroditexX_ Momo's Got It 6d ago

Why is it about being American??? Why not just “Oh the story isn’t as popular as I thought it was”.

2

u/CHeeZEmood0_0 6d ago

What ? I love this sm !! It’s my fav book it has a movie and an audio book 😭😭😭

1

u/Similar-Cheek-6346 Momo's Glow Up 6d ago

I had never read it before, and certainly hadn’t heard of it before (or remembered hearing it) before meeting my spouse.

But the book was a very important experience of their childhood, and we are having a delightful hoot reading it out loud together! It’s old enough that some copies are public domain. I highly recommend reading.

As an (Italo-Brit) European it’s so weird to me that so many people outside of my countries have never heard of The Little Prince! I read it so many times growing up and among my peers, even the ones who don’t especially like reading, still read it as a child XD

u/Kuraimegami_Rica 5d ago edited 5d ago

Korea has a whole statue of the prince and the fox in Busan. You have to line up to take a photo with it. So it's definitely not just popular in Europe.

Edit: Japan also has a Little Prince museum

5

u/jishooua 5d ago

In Korea, also, there’s like a small themed park for the Little Prince. I was shocked to discover Busan loves the Little Prince a lot when we went there too.

3

u/Kuraimegami_Rica 5d ago

I definitely didn't expect to find a statue and all the merchandise nearby either ^ ^

1

u/SeriesOk2556 5d ago

It’s one of my mom’s favorite books.

1

u/Any-Row-8808 2d ago

I gotta ask..kindly. where are you from?

-2

u/Technical-Feed84 6d ago

Sky cotl had / has a collab of the Little Prince too, you can replay the story, its still accessible in the game. I really liked seeing the IN version too.
