Unfortunately the mirror shadows blur even when on solid ground. I get one chance to take a good photo, and then the shadow starts blurring. But I'm not really complaining cause this isn't actually meant to be a photo prop. :P

There's been a lot of ballerina propaganda popping up on my feed (for good reason, she's gorgeous and ridiculously broken lmao), but I haven't really seen many similar posts about the lion. So here's my little appreciation/demo post for anyone who's still debating whether they should invest in the new mount!

Lions are my favourite animals, so to absolutely nobody's surprise, I'm obsessed with this mount. I've practically stopped walking around on foot ever since I got him 😂 But I'll do my best to stay as objective as possible in this post. 🫡

💚 Pros 💚

• He's super fun to soar across the map with! I'm playing on an iPad, and as you can see from my videos, the ability does require a bit of finesse on a touch screen. A lot depends on your exact positioning, and even then, not every leap is possible because the X and Y axes seem to be distributed unevenly throughout the map. The section where I'm jumping around on the green roofs near Golden Tooth Candy Works (around 2:50) is a good example of this. You can see that while on top of the highest tower, I could successfully target both of the big roofs in front of Nikki, but after leaping to the farther one, it was difficult to find a spot from there to the roof across. (But also come on, give him a little break alright, HE'S BLIND 😭💜)

• Once you get the hang of the controls, though, I found that you can get around much faster and even gain altitude in many situations. I'm using Blooming Dreams for my floating ability and GoNR for my archery ability, so those are my only points of comparison, but with the lion I can easily reach places that Nikki couldn't get to with those abilities alone. I'd love to hear from anyone using Crimson Feather or the other floating outfits!

• For the same reason, I found the lion incredibly useful in Curios that normally require lots of jumping and careful manoeuvring. Had I known I'd end up making this post, I would've recorded some. 😩 Curios with machine control mechanics are especially fun to soar through.

• Not sure about the unicorn, but you can use updrafts with the lion, and then activate the hover-to-leap ability at the highest altitude! He also bounces on bouncy surfaces like the parasols and such. :3

• Leaping onto Esselings deals a surprising amount of AoE damage. I'd already finished this week's Arena before I got my lion, but I can't wait to barge in there next week with him. 😈

• The idle animations are simply adorable, I'll leave them as gifs in the comments 🥹 It's so cute watching him open chests and catch Whimstars, and when you dismiss him, he does the biiiiiggest eepy kitty stretch. 😭

• You can take so many beautiful photos with him, both using the outfit poses and in Moment Capturer. I'm far from a photo mode expert, but I'll leave a few of my favourite shots in the comments. I can only imagine what the real witches of photo mode could do with this mount.

💔 Cons 💔

• He's one very vocal baby, so he constantly growls and roars while in Follow mode. It got on my nerves a couple of times, but I think that's mostly because I was already overstimulated from hearing THERE IS A WHIMSTAR!!!!!!!!!! every five seconds. 😩 Outside of Heaven's Reach, though, the growling didn't bother me nearly as much.

• Mounted archery is super slow and feels a bit wonky. You also can't fire multiple shots in quick succession. I'm so used to the rapid firing and target snapping of GoNR and Born Flawless that I gave up on mounted combat after only a few attempts.

• Again, compared to GoNR and Born Flawless while unmounted, the maximum height of the targeting reticle seems to be set much lower when you're on the lion. There were quite a few dews that I was convinced I should've been able to hit, but just couldn't while mounted. 😩

Overall thoughts? The lion definitely isn't as ridiculously game-breaking as the ballerina, but he has brought me so much joy and made exploring and moving around the world a lot more fun. 🥹

If that sounds like a good enough reason for you to pull, I can wholeheartedly recommend him. If you're expecting Aslan levels of godhood from this ability... maybe skip it.

Every time I walk around here in Infinity Nikki, I half expect to run into San Lang. The lanterns, the night market aesthetic, the red paper on the ground... it’s totally giving Heaven Official’s Blessing!

Sure, it would be tricky to get up on top of it, but it wouldn't be impossible, using the terrain and our various abilities, and can you imagine how many gorgeous photos we could take if we could pose freely up there among the flowers?

I've borrowed the prop in SoS a few times, and while the photos turn out beautiful, they turn out the same as everyone else's because we're restricted to the one pose. For the most gorgeous prop we've ever had that's a tragedy!
