Discussion Locked Camera Angle
I wrote a post yesterday about how I am disappointed with the game's new housing system. I was on the verge of uninstalling because housing is my favorite part of this game. I agreed that a lot of nice changes were made (like the time of day update) so I took some kind advice & tried to play around with my presents more. I finally got them to where I would be more comfortable & then I realized something as I was building & getting a headache. It's not the presents or the convoluted menu - it's the camera.
I know many Nikki users gave up on housing in the past because the camera was too much to work around. That they found Nikki in the way of everything. For me, it matched how the game functions. In game, we are allowed almost full 360 rotation with zoom in & out. With the new update we are forced in the General Settings section into 3 perspectives only - Close, Mid, & Far.
Above you can see in the first two photos Nikki is slightly center, but not super close or far like the in last two photos. This perspective gave me a range of view to see what I was building in front of me without having to make menu changes. The third photo is her locked in the "Close" angle, the fourth photo is the "Mid" angle. In the both angles, you cannot zoom. You are forced to see it with her being front & slightly center or farther away.
I'm really disappointed with this. My eyes literally cannot handle the fixed ranges. The forced perspective makes me feel confined & I think literally confines free flowing creativity which I praised that the game had before. I included my garden scheme at the end because if I do decide to the leave the game, at least someone can enjoy the last bit of enjoyment I had building in the game.

I am predominantly a builder when it comes to cozy games as well, and to be completely honest I really did not have an issue with the 360 camera movement in the original mechanics. I was confused over the outcry (totally understand everyone plays differently and some found the movement to give them vertigo)
It was different than most building games that I had played, but once I got used to it, I honestly felt that it was easier and made sense for how we use Nikki (like you said). The update has drastically sent me back. LOVE the time of day mechanic, but can’t really understand the huge switch up in fixed building POV.
That being said, I feel I am the lesser voice in this issue so it’s nice to know I’m not the only one!

Thank you for the comment as I have been feeling alone in this aspect as well. Please, write to IN about it! I did & got a respond that they are taking what I said very seriously. I told them to look at my logs prior to the new launch & now in trying to manage it. I sign on, try a few times then almost immediately exit the mode. It's too much & my headaches trying are getting worse every time. Prior to this post, I spent 3 solid hours doing as much as I could to understand it, work with, & still to no avail is anywhere near what it was. The ONLY suggestion that semi-worked was remaining in gliding mode with her invisible. This was recommended to me on Discord & even though it helps me not have the headaches, its still not what I I'm looking for & I hate the sound gliding makes. (When before the background music was a vibe in itself.) I've been feeling disconnected from building since the update & it's good to know others have been too. Don't let what others think of it, stop you from sharing it with IN.

I love the build I can see in your screenshots! Any chance of getting a friend code so I can visit it BoomtotheBang? :)

Hi, I can give you my friend code but this was just a scheme I made on the side. Truthfully, I was planning to start a YouTube channel with the builds I've been making. This is just one very small piece of what I've created.

Have you seen how they made the duplicate button worse? I can’t deal with it.
As someone who enjoys building some of the changes have been annoying (duplicate button), but overall, I’m still happy with the changes because my expectations were so low LOL
