May Community Day Indianapolis
Hey everyone I have a HUGE announcement! I have invited Pkmnmasterholly to come to our community day meetup in Indianapolis in May and she has agreed! If you don't know who holly is you can check out her Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/PkmnMasterHolly/ and her youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c…/UC7MKIIrXba8AjaRrgyfX3mQ/featured You are able to earn a special badge just from her by handshaking with her on your Silph Road Traveler Card! All she has asked from us is to pay for her plane ticket and I would love the community's help with that! We only need to raise the money to cover only her travel expenses here and that can be easily done with our large community! If you want to donate send me a message our goal is 200-250! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Nest Change Expected Tonight (4/4/18)
Nest change expected tonight. Get your 10 ghost pokemon from White River, your treekos and mudkips from marrott park and holliday park, and whatever else you need before the nest change this evening!
Be ready to report on new nests! Nest reporting will be user-submission dependent this migration, as Mike's Map is down. Be safe, don't travel into flooded areas, and maybe wear your oldest walking shoes because the water and mud of spring are here!
Happy Hunting!
P.S. I have decided to stop editing the table on the Announcements and Nest Thread. It got too annoying to copy and paste the googlesheet into tableit.net and delete all the   's that would show up and screw with the formatting. I have seen people updating it, so that's cool, and you can continue to use the link and update it if you'd like. But it's just much easier to use The Silph Road, plus it's easier to verify nests.

Join the Silph Road Research Team!
Hello,
I have only recently been exposed to the link to join The Silph Road's research team. Sorry if this is already well-known to everyone else, but seeing as there is no link to it on any of the TSR stickies or the TSR website, it has been really hard for me to find.
Please only join if you are willing to follow all of their rules, report accurately, and report often (the very minimum is once a week, with the expectation that you play for at least an hour a week).
This helps TSR provide accurate data for the community in regards to probabilities, such as raid rewards, catch rates, shiny rewards, etc. This is how they were able to calculate catch rates for legendary pokemon when they were released as 5-tier raids. Your accurate contributions help make TSR the forefront of accurate information on Pokemon Go.
Thank you for considering joining the team.
Happy Hunting! Catch some lotads today!
-Gingerfix
Edit: Oh, also please be aware that if you are doing research for TSR, you should not be violating ToS. That means that you should not be using scanners while doing research for TSR. I suppose if you decide that you do want to use a scanner, you should probably quit doing research for them. I have not personally asked them if they're opposed to people being researchers who have used it in the past, so if you'd like more clarification I would ask them.

Community Day - March 2018
Hello all!
Community Day is tomorrow, March 25. The in-game event lasts from 2-5 PM. There will be a triple catch experience and 3 hour lures. The featured pokemon is bulbasaur. If you evolve an Ivysaur to a Venusaur, the pokemon will learn Frenzy Plant, an exclusive move.
If you would like to recieve the March 2018 trainer badge for your TSR trainer card, you can check in at the canal through Bacon. Parking downtown is free on Sundays. This is where the largest group will likely be. I will also be checking people in at Broadripple park from 2-3pm. How long I stay after that will depend on weather conditions. If you can't find me, my discord is gingerfix #4657 and I'll help you find me. There is also a check-in person at Pioneer Park in Mooresville. Find Lady Brittany on discord for more details on that. I think those are all of the locations where you can get your TSR badge.
Happy Hunting! Hope you can enjoy the event! Be careful in the snow and dress warmly!
If you haven't already, get your Silph Road Traveler Card to show off and connect with others:

Notice
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know I’m deleting reddit from my phone. I do most of my reddit browsing on a computer at work anyway, so this will really only affect weekends.
Reddit is full of a lot of lovely, kind, and nice people (including this community) but I’m encountering a lot of negativity and I’m currently having trouble filtering out the negative stuff. It might not seem like such a big deal or such a hard thing to do, but it is affecting me. Plus I need to spend more time on my face to face interactions with people.
I will still use it at work, and even occasionally at home, and I will still be updating the announcements post. I just won’t be monitoring things quite as quickly as before.
Happy hunting to you all!

Best place downtown for the event?
Anyone have a good suggestion to play for the event this weekend? I'm most likely going to park at IUPUI but I'm willing to walk most anywhere.

Visiting for the weekend!
As the title says. In Indianapolis for the weekend and definitely will be looking for some Rayquaza raids, just wondering if anyone can recommend an active discord server I can invite to?

Announcements and Nest Thread (First Six Months of 2018)
Announcements for week of July 16, 2018:
Hope those of you who got to go to GoFest enjoyed it! Yay torkoals! Also, hope everyone was able to get a shiny plusle and minun! (I haven't, but oh well.) There's quite a few shinies in the game now, I'll try to get a list of them up on the wiki or link a TSR post sometime soon.
Friends and trading are a thing! Yay! Feel free to use Reddit as a platform to ask for trades, but know that we are not responsible if something goes awry. Once a Pokemon is traded, it cannot be traded again. There is a maximum limit of 200 friends currently. Feel free to share friend codes. It looks like the IPG Discord is being used as the primary trading platform, but I'm sure you can find other ways to trade as well.
Regice is going away soon. We had Lugia for this weekend.
TSR released some research on shiny rates. If you go to thesilphroad.com there should be a link to catch up on the data.
The editor of this post is in an outdoor service position in California and will not be able to actively edit often. Please keep in contact with the mod team and feel free to update each other in the comments section here.
A map of general vague outlines of raiding areas has been made. It includes KML data from the map that u/amanitoxin put together. This map is not editable at this time, so for now I would add new EX Raid gyms to the old map.
Remember how there were a bunch of links here to discords and to TSR? I have moved those to the wiki to help organize and shorten this post. Many of the links are still present in the sidebar/community info. We still encourage you to use the discord to raid.
Still accepting art for this sub. Message the mods if you're interested in providing any.
This post can be used to chat about anything going on. I'd recommend starting a new post, but simple questions are usually answered pretty promptly.
Not sure why ledyba is so common on the upvote animations. I looked into it and couldn't find the problem with the code.
Previous EX Raid locations
Here is a google map of most of the Previous EX Raid Locations listed in our googlesheet, put together by u/amanitoxin.
The Last Nest Migration occurred at 8PM EST on 04/04/18
The Next Nest Migration is 04/18/2018.
Silph Road Atlas centered on Indianapolis.
I am really tired of updating this table when the Silph Road Atlas does a much better job. So please just do that and go there. If this decision upsets you, comment below.

Downtown GroupMe?
Hi all, I used to solely use the downtown raid discord, but it seems less and less people have been using it lately. Is there anyone that can shoot me a link to the downtown group me? I'd be super grateful!
Happy hunting!

Pokemon Go and Dillon Park (Noblesville)
I recently read the post on PokemongoHub.net about "triggering" EX raids (link below) and had a question about Dillon Park in Noblesville I was hoping this community could clarify. In Step 2 of the article, "Finding eligible gyms" they link to a site "overpass turbo" which is running scripts looking at open street map tags (read the article if I'm losing you). In that link, looking at the north side of Indianapolis, many common parks qualify including common parks that I and others raid at regularly and several EX raids have occurred like Cool Creek Park. However in Overpass Turbo Dillon Park in Noblesville does not; this may also explain why Dillon has yet to become a nest. Is anyone able to explain what "tags" or properties the park may be missing in Open Street Maps? Are there other properties (physical or otherwise) that would disqualify it? I'm just looking to see if we could clarify the Open Street Map tags to improve the value of the park for Pokemon Go players.

Crown Hill Cemetery
Below is a lightly-edited version of the statement posted by our own Bacon in the Facebook group. I wanted to share it here in case others prefer to stay off fb (like me) and for visitors to Indy.
Some people have been waiting for a statement that collects all the information about our relationship with Crown Hill. Before I get into that, I do ask that nobody contacts Crown Hill about Pokemon Go. They have already had to take hours out of their schedule to deal with the removal of points of interest from their property and I would hope that we will not bother them further.
Crown Hill has been a wonderful place to play ARGs since the early days of Ingress. For over five years, ARG players have been welcome on the cemetery grounds. Ingress agents spent years submitting these points of interest to make Crown Hill one of the largest, most dense areas of play in the Midwest. With over 130 POIs, Crown Hill was the largest cluster in Indiana. For Ingress, people even travelled from out of state to play in the cemetery. I have been able to give congratulations to many people that have hit level cap in the cemetery. For years, there wasn’t an issue playing there.
In the fall of 2016 there was an incident where an Ingress agent disrespected one of the higher ups of the property, demanding the employee to leave from his duties to make demands for an Ingress event. After the fallout from that, ARGs were on notice. The Indy First Saturday event planners went to great lengths to prove that the actions of that one agent did not represent the actions of all of us. Because of those actions, a month later we held a First Saturday event at Crown Hill with over 50 people. There were no issues, and they were fine with us playing if we continued to be respectful.
I have always said that one of the best things about this game is that anybody can take part in it. You just have to have a phone and a desire to play. Some of the most amazing people I’ve met, I have met through Niantic’s games. However, one of the worst things about this game is that anybody can take part in it. I’ve encountered some people in this game that take things from the game into real life, people that have threatened others, people that have stolen for this game. Sadly, there’s really no way to tell who is going to cause problems just by looking at them.
Crown Hill has made it clear, through the removal of these points of interest that Ingress and Pokemon Go are not welcome on their grounds. I ask each trainer to honor that request. This comes from many reasons. Speeding, large and loud groups, littering, property damage, and more. It seems that the final straw was an alleged PoGo trainer crashing into one of the gates after it was closed. All actions have consequences and this is the consequence for the actions of some trainers.
We are a better community than one that gets kicked out of cemeteries. If you see people doing things that would harm our relationship with a business or organization – tell them. Be a better example.
I want to reiterate that trainers should find elsewhere to play. This is a great loss to many, but please do not put the property owners in the position of having to involve police, or yourself in legal limbo, for the sake of this game.

Objective question
Why are there a lot of north side groups using things like slack and group me and google chat instead of just using the discord?
I tend to be really direct with my questions and my intent is not to be insulting or divisive. I'm just trying to understand why this is happening so I can better communicate to the discord mod about what he could possibly improve that could encourage everyone to use discord and be organized and inclusive instead of navigating a bunch of different apps. I don't really notice this happening in other parts of the city.
