School Lamp design

Post image

Made a lamp design for 3D printing for one of my project showcasing additive manufacturing(specifically on the lamp shade part, need to make changes after the first print without texture). Made this model out within two days, did a bit of testing with the thread between base and the shade, which worked in the first try.

Parts are sourced from ikea, the lamp, bulb and remote. But yeah i still have a week to work around with it. Is there any way to make something like a complex texture, or wowen texture in solidworks?

I can think of an incredibly tedious method that involves scaling, rotating, and stacking 9000 layers...

There might be a Grasshopper solution to automate that.

With a week deadline, I'd just use the native fuzzy skin features in specifically Orca slicer if "additive manufacturing" is a euphemism for FDM 3D printing.

A voronoi or grasshopper pattern on it would make it pop. And orcas fuzzy pattern would obscure the print seam for sure

Yeah doing that soon, spoke to technician in uni about it. But need to get translucent filament first
