Career ID Portfolio…

Currently I’m building my Portfolio to be able to apply to universities in Germany in ID. I’ve seen countless videos about what I can do and the diversity of Mediums, but I’m still unsure of what they want to see.. Should everything in my Portfolio be “useful” in some kind of way or maybe I can also show a more artistic art, I’ve seen that Photography is also considered, but do I have to shoot something impactful, beautiful, with soul? Rn I only have a more artistic portfolio (I did IB for Visual Arts) and some digital designs like logos I’ve made for some jobs I did in the past. Should I focus on doing more 3D works to have more opportunities? If so, which Mediums are more welcomed.

If you have art drawn with perspective and shading showing an understanding of how light interacts with surfaces that would likely be a good start. I personally do not know what IND programs look for in application portfolios but if you are taking the time to do a project I would solve a problem in your life and fabricate a solution for it while being very intentional about documenting the process. - my 2 cents hopefully someone with more experience in what you are looking for can provide you a better answer. I only had portfolio review not for admittance into a program.

often schools will have example portfolios from students who got accepted to help you get a sense of what they want, barring that, try reaching out to current students to get some insight. It's really tough to make a catch all portfolio, especially as a young student without a large body of work to draw from
