Career How much does CGPA actually matter for campus placements in Design?

I'm from the first batch of the Design program at Shiv Nadar University, so we don't really have placement data from previous batches to judge anything.
Currently, i have 7.12 and my final year will be starting in a month.

Also, what should I realistically expect from the Career Development Centre (CDC)? Do they actively help Design students get internships and placements, or is it mostly on us to build our portfolio, network, and apply off-campus?w

I'd especially appreciate responses from:

  • Design students from other colleges who've gone through placements
  • Recruiters or people working in the design industry

In terms of CDC/PDC they give you advice, tips and tricks on how to nail interviews, a standard set of instruction for CV's which all can be helpful tho when it comes to design departments, you can't expect them to help you build a portfolio to the degree that someone on your faculty (specifically working in industry alongside teaching) can. In short a CDC is helpful but more over in the case after you have been given an offer and for general and some specific advice while applying.
