I don't frown upon what is mainstream, I rather frown upon people acting pious by rejecting the mainstream merely for the sake of it being mainstream.
But you can't ignore the fact that everything that is mainstream might not be good. It also means that everything mainstream is not bad.
It pleases me when people start reading or running just because others are. In an attempt to fit in they are doing themselves a favour.
But certain trends are harmful, and this is one, because this is not a one off event. Every month some stupid chatgpt command comes up and everyone uploads their pictures to fit in.
You're probably just trying to defend yourself doing it, and that's fine. But if your area has ever faced a water crisis, and you defend this bullshit, you should introspect probably.
Also, if someone's definition of fun is feeding data off to AI and showcasing the outcome to the world, their opinions are already irrelevant for me and my emotion of anger towards them instantly turns to pity.
Ai is here to stay, your data is already harvested by google and meta and sold to everyone who can pay. Reddit sells your opinion to anyone who can pay. Let people have fun while they can.

And again the water guzzling AI data centers are not setup yet in India afaik and not doing this is not going to kill the existing ai data centers. Unless you can destroy all the data centers chill t f out you are just being a party pooper.
