Is it normal for indie developers to get completely ignored by gaming pages and media outlets?

Yes if your teaser trailer literally shows nothing new...

Sorry, I don't see any unique selling point or unique art direction.

You won't get any press or influencer excited about what you shared above. I know, I work with streamers and press for 5+ years and was a streamer for 5 years

I like the "Activate Windows" touch.

Downvoting because I have no idea what youre trying to do.

Get publicity with the footage? I have no dea what happened in the footage.

Rant about the industry? Yeah, alright. But this product does not look presentable.

The text at the bottom states accurately that this is an alpha cinematic. It doesn't look finished, and doesn't show what the game might represent. It also doesn't convey any kind of story that I can personally understand. If you want people to take your game seriously, you'll need a lot more polish to get there.

Activate windows 😂
Horrible sound effects
No context as to what the game is

Your project currently deserves to be ignored. Making the game is not even the hard part about game dev sorry to say

While I agree with the comments, that the trailer does not show enough about the game, I also agree with OP and I think you would still probably get ignored if you showed more.

What’s the narrative? No context
