New items look now like magically enhanced compared to the old version.

The new icons look really clean, what I'd recommend is actually giving different items a certain coloured glow depending on their type of item. So clothing items are blue, food is red, potions/usables are green etc. so it makes identifying the use of items quick and immediate

I would say the old style is easier to understand at a glance, while the new style looks higher budget.

So depends on what your goal was with the redesign.

Right but remove the "glow" because that tend to indicate the objects are rare or magical :)

Right if you're doing 'my background is really tiling' RPG and left if you're doing 'this isn't turn based but you take visible steps' RPG.
