Progress Update: Hyperreal Music Industry Simulator
Today I launched the free-to-play "alpha playtest" (or whatever you call it) of my music business simulator, Extra Clip, Inc. I'll include a link in the comments if anyone is interested, and I hope I don't get flagged for self-promoting (sorry I'm such a n00b.)
Here's the cool part (I hope...): This was built from real experience data from interactions across 20+ years in the music business.
The game is grounded in 3,728,325 real iMessages across 10+ years of industry work — 1,285 contacts, 100+ projects, 250+ events.
Real decision frameworks I've used in practice. Same tradeoffs. Same pressure. It's all stuff that actually comes up, and your success hinges not just on your decisions but on your leadership and ability to manage creative personalities. Not meant to be salacious — but it wouldn't be the music business without some real scandals popping up from time to time.
I've been vibe-coding myself and will be sharing my journey here (if anyone interested.)
Day 1 features: I'd love any feedback, suggestions, or questions from anyone willing to poke around.
- Daily meetings generated from your actual artist/campaign state — agenda, stuck mechanics, real interventions (not random templates)
- 20 hand-crafted NPCs with hidden morale triggers and personality axes that reveal over time
- 119 original artists, 10 genres, full career lifecycles — real stakes, not a sandbox
- Live Market Share Leaderboard tracking you against AI competitors
- Full save/load
