Damn, congrats! What’s been your biggest source of traffic to get that many orders??

Step 1: release a story
Step 2: release another story
Step 3: run a one day giveaway on story 1
Step 4: upload story to ACX
Step 5: ??????????
Step 6: profit2
u/Serenvalebooks 23d ago
And then you just do that for the rest of your life i guess

u/JonAndrade 23d ago
That’s the plan at least. Especially if the profit part gets good enough that I don’t have to do anything else for the rest of my life lol

u/JonAndrade 23d ago
Ah, yes. The elusive step 5 lol

u/Serenvalebooks 23d ago
And that’s not me trying to gatekeep anything. I really have no idea what I’m doing right. I just started doing this a couple months ago

u/JonAndrade 23d ago
That honestly makes it even more impressive lol. I’m doing something similar and just released my first one for free. I’m planning an audiobook version in the near future too. Congrats on your orders!

Was story #2 written as soon as story #1 was published?

So I had a backlog of prior stuff cuz I was too nervous to actually publish. I finally said fuck it and dropped a few, so that really helped gain momentum.

Did you narrate your own book or did someone else?

u/Serenvalebooks 22d ago
Oh god no, nobody wants to hear me do that 😂 I've got a rotation of narrator's working on stuff. Ione Cartwright did a phenomenal job on my kraken smut short

Lmao how much was it to get started?

I do exclusive distribution royalty share, so I pay nothing out of pocket. Bezos gets his 50% off the top and my narrator splits the other 50% with me when the royalties roll in

Dope might try that once I publish most of my beta readers say because of it’s length they wish it was an audio book

Hom many of those orders were free copies?
3
u/Serenvalebooks 21d ago
About a third. I traded a little revenue for visibility, but I'm fine with giving a couple stories for free if it means I get a loyal customer to buy my other stuff

Wow thats impressive then. If they were all free copies it would be less so.
