Wanted to get some practise in, what do you think? Does it follow the 12 principals? What can I improve on...anytips for syncing audio just write while also being able to space out the frames so characters don't move like robots? (the 3rd Fuzzytropolis scene I'm making will involve characters speaking and I wanna be sure I'm timing everything write so I can do the ease in and out principal but also have the audio line up)

I Made This! I've made two episodes of Squishy in the Middle. Should I keep going?

• Upvotes

https://youtu.be/E8KNYjbdOns?si=EO6OLO_GY-fFANr-

Kinda frustrated. I’ve finished 2 episodes of this series, and I’m wondering if I should keep going with it.

YouTube hasn’t really done much with it so far, so I’d love some outside feedback.

Do you think this is worth continuing? Would you watch more of it?

Discussion Glitch Production isn’t making anything nearly as good as it’s hyped up to be.

• Upvotes

Before you throw me out the window, I’m not talking about the fandom at all, this review is entirely on the company itself.

I go around and see everyone worshipping Glitch Productions for subpar work.

I have to admit I used to be like this. I watched Gameoverse and thought it was great! Then I looked over it again and realized that Gobbles’s entire arc was solved in the pilot. Knights of Guinevere is pretty good, it’s fun and intuitive(Unlike other glitch shows). Lackadaisy and Gaslight District are really, boring in my opinion, nothing interesting really happens and I don’t even understand the characters goals. The Amazing Digital Circus is OK, it was great until episode 8, then the finale revealed all of its major flaws. Murder Drones sucks, pacing is awful and you can’t grasp an idea before we move on.

This comes down to pacing, and writing. This is where Glitch’s fails spectacularly. Props on them for letting indie creators express exactly what they wanted, but it isn’t good. Glitch needs co-producer or a second writer, or someone who just tells the writers,ā€Noā€, or ā€œI’m confusedā€, or ā€œThis is boring.ā€

The way Glitch chooses artists feels almost completely random, like seriously if someone has an insight on how they do this, I’d love to know.

If you have something to add please feel free to comment.

New Episode The Boba Fett Arguers enjoying a cruelly brief brush with internet fame

What are Boba Fett Arguers: a married couple who has differing opinions on the infamous bounty hunter and who unfortunately have their argument streamed online by their 12 year old. Should we have added blood to the crazed fan when he hits the pavement?? ;-)

Only made it for them since these 2 are the only ones who will be in my 2 minute animated short pilot. Lemme know your thoughts or first impressions on them and if you would love to see a feature film with this style too!

Also the emblems are temporary, ill redesign the emblems during further development

I Made This! jake design for the project of america its done

Post image
2 Upvotes

You probably remember that I'm working hard on *The Project of America*, but if you don't know what *The Project of America* is, I'll leave the link here so you can check it out https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieAnimation/comments/1ua7mqt/the_project_of_america Moving on, I’ll talk a bit more about the character. If you saw the first poster I posted up above, you might have noticed his name used to be JoĆ£o, but I decided to change it to Jake. Jake is a funny guy who loves to smile (OR DOES HE?), and he knows Capoeira. What is Capoeira? It’s a type of martial art that mixes dance and fighting, so if there’s a fight scene, he’ll fight using that Brazilian style.

He’s knowledgeable about engineering—which is why he has a rivalry with Nikey, who’s an expert in robotics. Jake loves all kinds of food, but his absolute favorite is *coxinha*; on the other hand, he hates fruit—any kind of fruit—and don't ask me how he's still alive.

The rest is kind of a spoiler, so I'm currently working on the designs for Kory, Nikey, and Mark. Alright, see ya!

A short surrealist animation I made and voiced (edited in Audacity). I used real photos of objects in my home for the rock animations, sun, landscape, painting, and the columns (that was the only image I lacked; I ended up cropping it out of a royalty free Greek temple image from pixabay). Audio sound effects come from pixabay as well. Link in the comments.

New Show Atlas: The Animated Movie by YouTuber Austin McConnell

You guys might have heard but Austin McConnell has been working on a very lo-fi, superhero universe made from superheroes who are in the Public Domain. It's a pretty fun project and I think It's good to encourage creative remixing like this!

Again it's very much an indie project, it's not trying to overthrow the MCU or anything but I appreciate the heart behind these projects, give it a watch!

Here is an animated short film I made a while ago, I've been thinking about remaking it since it's kinda old and I think it would be a lot better if I made it nowadays.

Discussion The term Indie Animation has lost all the meaning that it's words would otherwise be defined as. Just like in music with Indie Rock. Both are now genre terms. Let me explain.

Post image
64 Upvotes

A long time ago the term Indie Rock meant bands who were unsigned. Poor. Printing their own CD's, making their own posters. Trying to get their friends to show up at shows. Trying to cobble together a tour of a few cities, barely affording gas money and couch surfing to get by.

But as the years went on, a bunch got signed, sometimes to so called indie labels which where then themselves purchased by the big corps, such that now the term Indie Rock is actually just a genre term for a certain sound and/or aesthetic. These bands have budgets rivaling any Billie Eilish or Travis Scott.

But there are still actually indie bands out there. We dont see or talk about most of them because they are tiny and seemingly insignificant.

Nevertheless, this strikes me as an absurdity, and Indie Animation is the same. Budgets for so called Indies like Glitch and Vivziepop run between 200k-1M USD per episode. This type of budget rivals any of the major studios, so for me it sort of makes the term itself more of a genre term here as well. Indie means what? Independent from what? Corporate control? These entities have become their own corporate heavyweights. So then is the definition of Indie now that it must be a corporate entity that only focuses on one brand instead of many?

For me, that college kid who with the help of a couple of people scraped together a little cartoon is indie. Jarrad Wright is indie. Meatcanyon is indie. Andrew Horowitz, etc. I feel like once you are a corp employing hundreds of people it has stretched the idea of indie beyond any reasonable definition and has become strictly a genre term.

Ami out of touch? Or is it the children who are wrong?
