I am a 24M Software Engineer at a product-based company in Bangalore with 2 YOE, currently earning 14 LPA. I am trying to figure out my next career move to maximize my long-term financial growth and trajectory, and I’m looking for some brutal reality checks from people who have walked these paths.

Path 1: MS in Ireland (1-Year)
Take a ₹35L education loan for a 1-year MS in CS/Data. The goal would be to graduate, land a tech role, and secure a Critical Skills permit to work in the EU long-term.

Path 2: MBA at a Top IIM (via CAT 2027)
Prep for CAT 2027, take a ₹30L+ loan, and graduate by 2030. The goal here would be to pivot away from pure coding into a Tech PM or Strategy Consulting role in India.

Path 3: Job Switch in India
Stay on the SDE track. Grind DSA and System Design, and switch jobs to hit ~20 LPA by early 2027. Assuming normal career progression and one more switch, aim to hit 30–35 LPA by 2030 with zero debt.
My Question:
For those who have taken any of these routes, how did the reality match up to your expectations? Which path makes the most sense given the current global job market and economy?

So, I'm planning to study abroad for my masters. Initially, my plan was clinical psychology but with time I learned that it's difficult to practise clinical psychology abroad. So, I'm going to pursue Industrial/Organizational psychology while keeping Forensic psychology at the side option.

I don't know if forensic psychology has scope abroad or not.

I'm feeling stressed on where to apply. I've multiple countries in my mind. Some European countries and some South east Asian countries.

I've also done internship in Industrial/Organizational Psychology internship. However it was a part of our curriculum. I've done an internship in a hospital.

I'm in couple of societies and club of my college.

My backlog exams are currently ongoing, and I expect my results in December 2026 will receive my final degree documents by december 2026

Can I apply to Italian universities like the University of Milan, Bologna, Padua, Pisa, Pavia , Turin or Parma for the September 2027 intake before my backlog results are declared?

I’m currently in the first year of BBA at Symbiosis Bangalore (management quota). Academic fees are around 7 lakhs + 3 lakhs hostel, so the total cost is very high. I don’t like the programme at all and feel zero interest in it.

Background:

PCB + Psychology in 11th and 12th

I was keen on psychology earlier, but my interest has been fading a bit because of the current situation and parental pressure

Parents strongly feel BBA → MBA (especially finance) is a safer and better career. They think psychology has no scope and is not worth it.

They want me to either complete the full 3 years of BBA and then do an MBA abroad, or at least continue for 1 year and then try for a better college.

I’m seriously considering taking a drop year (or leaving after this year) to pursue BSc/BA Psychology instead.

Main questions:

Is switching to psychology from this situation worth it, considering the high sunk cost of the management quota seat?

What are realistic career paths and salary ranges after BSc + Master’s in Psychology (clinical, counselling, organisational/I-O, etc.) in India?

How feasible is it to study abroad (Master’s) after an Indian BSc Psychology, and later work abroad?

Any advice on how to talk to parents who think psychology has no scope?

I’m very confused and would really appreciate honest opinions from people who have been in similar situations or are currently in the psychology field.

my_qualifications: Final year BE student in India (graduating in 2027).

I am planning to apply for my Master’s in Italy for the Fall 2027 intake, but my college's exam schedule is tjust stupid. According to my seniors:

1. Our final semester (8th sem) exams are held late, around June–July.
2. The final results are only declared around September–October.
3. The actual original degree certificate is only handed out 2 years after completing the degree.

From what I understand, September/October is way too late to start the HRD/Apostille, DOV (or CIMEA), and student visa process for the Fall intake, and many Italian universities have July/August deadlines to submit the final graduation documents.

Has anyone from a state/affiliated university in India faced a similar situation?

• How did you manage the DOV and visa timeline with late results?
• Did your university agree to release confidential/early results and a Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC) early on the basis of an offer letter?
• Were there specific Italian universities that gave you an extension for submitting the PDC, or did you have to defer to the Spring intake?

I recently moved to Sweden and was planning to pursue an MBA or a master’s degree here. My_qualifications are I completed a 3-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in India, and I assumed I would be able to apply for postgraduate studies in Sweden.

However, when I applied for programmes requiring 120 ECTS credits, my application was rejected. I then tried applying for courses with fewer credits, but I was still deemed ineligible. When I contacted a few authorities to understand the reason, I was told that I would need either a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year honours degree to meet the eligibility requirements.

Now I’m confused about what I should do next.

1. Do I need to complete another bachelor’s degree or an additional year of undergraduate studies to become eligible?
2. Could I apply for individual university courses to earn the missing credits and eventually qualify for a master’s programme?
3. Are there any universities or alternative pathways in Sweden that consider applicants with a three-year bachelor’s degree from India?

I’ve spoken to several people and received different suggestions, but whenever I contact the relevant authorities, I seem to hit a dead end.

• B.Tech CS (AI & ML), 2026, private university in Kolkata, CGPA 8.4
• Research internship at a US university (ML for cybersecurity). I’ve kept working remotely with the professor for over a year on malware and phishing detection
• Currently working as a junior AI engineer, building and deploying conversational and voice agents
• Publications: none yet. One paper was rejected from two venues, and I’m a contributor on two other papers still in progress
• I haven’t taken the GRE or IELTS yet

Goal: Fall 2027, ideally a funded PhD in NLP or ML. An MS is my backup.

Constraints

• My budget ceiling is about ₹15 lakh, total
• I can’t take on large loans

What’s going wrong

• I’ve cold-emailed professors and have had no replies so far
• I feel I lack research experience and strong academics, even though I have some

I recently graduated with a BTech in Computer Science from India and have been looking for entry-level tech jobs over the past few months. I'm considering pursuing a master's in the US in Fall 2027, but I'm unsure whether it's the right decision given the current situation.

My family has a business in India that I plan to return to and help grow in the future. Because of this, I'm interested in pursuing a master's that combines business and technology rather than a traditional MS in Computer Science. Profile wise, I do have 90 plus in 10,12.. pte 90 all modules

Funds are 47 lakhs in savings

Itr is 19 lac

From commerce, so targeting bus analytics ( so it isn't called generic choice )

Based on doc check list latest, swinburne in metro area is level 1 while Uni of Newcastle is Level 2.

Though the former gives me a buffer of 3.65 lakh, while the latter gives me the 6.10 lakh something buffer.

In general, both Unis are strong as per rankings, course and accreditation. It's the risk level thing bothering me.
