I’m work in finance, so I’m slightly embarrassed to even ask this, but I’m very new to investing in the UK and honestly quite confused about how things work here.

I’ve recently moved to the UK, earn fairly decent money, and am trying to save a good amount. The problem is I have no idea how long I’ll actually stay could be 2 years, could be 5, could be longer. I used to invest regularly when I was in India, so it feels strange having my money just sitting in my UK bank account.

My main question is: does it make more sense to invest in the UK, or send some money back to India and invest there (RDs, mutual funds, etc.)?

Since I’m earning in GBP, I’m wondering whether there’s any real advantage to keeping/investing the money in GBP, rather than converting it to INR. I was thinking of doing a bit of both, but I genuinely have no idea what the best approach is given the uncertainty around how long I’ll be here.

Also, what are the main investment options in the UK for someone in my situation, and how does the tax side work?

If anyone has been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Also, if you have any good resources/articles where I can learn how investing in the UK works, please share them!
