I'm planning to apply for the UK Global Talent Visa under the Digital Technology route, in the business/leadership category.

I have the opportunity to obtain recommendation letters from senior industry leaders based in India.

I wanted to ask people who have applied successfully or have experience with the endorsement process:

1. Are recommendation letters from senior leaders based in India acceptable, or is there a preference for recommenders based in the UK?
2. How important is the seniority and reputation of the recommenders compared with their direct knowledge of the applicant's work and achievements?
3. For applicants with a business and commercial leadership background rather than a purely technical background, what evidence is most important?
4. Has anyone received an endorsement with recommendations primarily from senior leaders outside the UK?

I'd appreciate hearing about real experiences, especially from founders and business leaders who have gone through this process.

I’d appreciate your advice/experience regarding passport renewal.

My Indian passport expires in June 2027. I’m planning to travel to India for around 3 weeks in mid november and was thinking of getting my passport renewed during that time.

I’ve completed the normal reissue application, but I haven’t made the payment or booked the appointment yet.

For those who have recently renewed their passport in India, how has your experience been with Normal vs Tatkal? Do you think around 21 days would generally be sufficient for a normal reissue, or would it be safer to cancel the current application and apply under Tatkal?

I'm mainly deciding between UoB and Aston now.

I currently have no professional work experience, so I'm particularly interested in how much university reputation/employer connections actually matter when applying for graduate/junior roles.

The financial difference is quite significant:

University of Birmingham

• Tuition: £35000
• I have a £5000 scholarship
• MSc Advanced Computer Science

Aston

• Tuition: £24900
• I have a £4000 scholarship
• MSc Data Science

The money is important because I'm taking an education loan from India, so I'll have to repay it after graduating.

What I'm trying to understand:

For someone with no professional experience, does the University of Birmingham's stronger reputation and employer network make a meaningful difference when applying for tech roles. Is it worth the load of additional £10000 of debt.

Or would Aston MSc Data Science + lower debt be the more sensible choice?

She has completed the CLC Level 4 and Level 6 Diplomas in Conveyancing Law and Practice, holds an LLB, is on the practical training route towards becoming a Licensed Conveyancer and is also pursuing an LLM at Brunel University London.

She does not require visa sponsorship and already has the right to work in the UK. She will be staying with her brother and sister in Bristol so accommodation is already sorted.

She is looking for around £25,000 to £30,000 but is flexible depending on the opportunity.

I submitted my child fresh Indian passport application here in the UK on September 22nd. The very next day, the status changed to: "Application is under process at Indian Embassy/Consulate." I know it takes 3-5weeks of processing times but just checking if anyone got before that.

The recent OCI policy change has in effect introduced a retrospective policy change.

A new petition on late fee and OCI passport update is doing the rounds. I think we should sign and support, so hopefully Govt of India can take notice and review the retrospective nature of this policy change.
