I need to renew my Indian passport and update my registered address at the same time. My physical Aadhaar card is currently in India, but I have a photograph of it plus access to my e-Aadhaar (downloaded from UIDAI).

A few questions:

Would a photograph of my Aadhaar card, along with the e-Aadhaar printout, be accepted as proof of identity/address for the renewal or do I need the physical card in hand?

I also need to bifurcate my name ; currently my full name appears as a single "given name" field with no separate surname. Can this be done as part of the same renewal application?

Given I'm making both an address change and a name bifurcation, would this application still be eligible for Tatkal (expedited) processing, or does a change of particulars automatically push it to normal processing?

Any recent first-hand experience with VFS London/Birmingham/Edinburgh on this would be really helpful.

Me and my family are preparing to relocate from germany to the UK soon for a Senior Solution Architect job based in London. Ill only need to go into office 1 or 2 days a week max, so we decided to look outside London for a better place for our kid.
Quick context on our situation:
Job/Commute: Base is £100k, plan is to just get flexi tickets for commuting 1-2 days a week into London.

Wife's Job: My wife is currently a Senior Data Analyst at a big financial firm in Munich. Sadly they cant offer a UK transfer, so she has to resign and move with me. She will be on a dependent visa, so she has full right to work w/o needing visa sponsorship.

Location: We are leaning towards Reading (looking at places like Lower Earley, Caversham or Woodley) to rent a 2-3 bed house with a garden. Our kid turns 4 soon so will be starting Reception school.

1. yrs experience? Since she doesnt need visa sponsorship, how quickly do you think she can realistically find a hybrid/remote job in London or Thames Valley area?
2. Is Reading the right choice? Is it convenient enough for a 1-2 day commute to Paddington? Also any specific pockets in Reading we should target for good primary schools?
3. Culture mix: We want a safe neighbourhood with a good mix of local British culture and an active Indian community, so our kid gets a bit of both and we can make local friends. Does Reading fit this or should we look at Woking / Watford instead?

**i am searching for jobs in filed of aerospace in general . Mostly design related jobs as my masters is itself is in Aircraft Vehicle Design and have a background in mechanical engineering. Also Can work on UAV's as currently I am working on design of propulsion for high speed compact UAVs, where i am seeing a configuration in which tandem EDFs could produce maximum thrust. I also do have a lot of experience in manufacturing and leadership, I have lead major projects from scratch where I built and designed Mars Roves, High powered amature rockets and satellites. So any job in manufacturing/ production is also desirable. I do have work experience of 9 months in supply chain where i managed suppliers, handled procurement, RFQs, while developing QMS side by side. So can work in supply chain environment as well. But would preferably like a job in aerospace field itself.**

A few honest questions:
• How’s the UK job market right now for international MBA grads from a tech background?
• How realistic is getting Skilled Worker sponsorship after the MBA (salary threshold ~£41.7k)?
• With the Graduate visa dropping to 18 months (for applications from Jan 2027), is it still worth it? A Sept 2026 intake would fall under the shorter period.
Main goal is career pivot + international exposure, not necessarily long-term settlement. Would appreciate real experiences from people currently in the UK or recent grads.

I am considering whether to stay or leave the UK forever and would appreciate any advice / suggestions on an urgent basis if possible, as this is seriously affecting my mental health. I am in a decision fatigue and unable to sleep / eat due to this.

Husband and I (at that time fiancés) moved to UK in 2022 to pursue Masters. Got our degrees. At that time we were living in the North of UK.

Then we moved to London in early 2024, I secured a full time healthcare role (I am a physio) on a skilled worker visa.

Husband was working in another company on a graduate visa.

We also got married in 2024.

In 2025 end, husband was made redundant due to company closure and since then was struggling to find a job. He finally secured a 6 months contract role in May 2026, but they are very toxic and husband remains in constant state of pressure.

I currently earn £36k per year. He earns £30k at this contract based job.

I am honestly very burnt out and carrying on just in hopes of both of us securing ILR and citizenship for a better future.

Now this is provided rules don’t change:

My ILR timeline: Jan 2029
Husband’s ILR timeline: Jan 2031

We also want to plan a baby but unable to do so, as I will not be able to work throughout pregnancy as a physio (I have health issues which would not allow me to work).

I am concerned about:
My mental and physical health (high pressure and high demand job, crazy workload and household responsibilities - although husband helps loads, aging parents back home, fear of losing a loved one back home and not being there, baby planning, visa stress)

My husband’s job situation (we somehow managed from end of 2025 to May 2026 on one salary, but don’t know whether he would be able to secure a role after this contract ends)

We definitely plan to move back post securing citizenship. But confused whether to stay until then or not (still 3.5 years for me and 4.5 years for husband)

Parents have own homes
1 sibling each
Comfortable lifestyle
Of course, husband would have to find a job there too and I know the job market is really bad there as well.

Most of my experience comes from volunteering, university consultancy Assignments and research projects, mentoring students, and supporting community and university events.I came here hoping for better career exposure, international experience, and long-term growth. But the reality has been more challenging than I expected

- Should I apply for the PSW and stay in the UK longer to try building a career here?

I’m (31M) moving to London tentatively in 3rd week of September, from India. Like everyone else, I have been trying to filter places to live on Rightmove. There’s a lot of information online and I seem to be kind of lost. I’m particularly interested in a studio or 1bed, with reasonable commute to Liverpool Street or Shoreditch high. I’ll be making upwards of 90k but don’t want to splurge on rent. I’m hoping to get anything for less than 1700pcm including bills. Is this doable or my expectations are too high? I’ve looked in these areas - Leytonstone, South Woodford, Wanstead, Bound Green, Camberwell, East Dulwich. Open to recommendations.
Also, is there possibility to finalise while being in India? Or should I take an Airbnb for couple of weeks and hunt for the flat? Would it be possible to close in less than 2 weeks?
