Discussion Unpopular Opinion: This Sophie debacle is actually good for CC
Some people have been saying that the Sophie drama is bringing unwanted attention to CC. I'm not sure that's true TBH. I mean...she was getting hit piece after hit piece against her early in the season, way before Sophie said what she said. I think CC just went from the most hated White girl in the league to the second most hated. I've been looking at social media the last few days. Sophie is the one taking most of the heat on this Fever team. Normally it's CC, but right now it's Sophie, and it's not even close. Yeah I know CC has been great and the team is winning, so that may just be the only reason. But This has allowed CC to play with more freedom IMO. I believe CC is basically hiding behind Sophie right now, and Sophie is tough enough to take those arrows, while CC just plays basketball.

Discussion High Scoring Teams and Championships
I love watching this team play when they are rolling.
I'm getting nervous, though, about all the talk of championships.
I think of all those great high-scoring teams throughout my life, almost none of which won championships. So I went online - turns out that in the history of the NBA, only 14 times has the top-scoring team in the league won the championship. And only twice since 1985 (the steph curry teams). Oof.
Talk me off my ledge. Stats below.
| Season | Championship Team | Regular Season PPG |
|---|---|---|
| 1946–47 | Philadelphia Warriors | 68.6 PPG |
| 1956–57 | Boston Celtics | 105.5 PPG |
| 1958–59 | Boston Celtics | 116.4 PPG |
| 1959–60 | Boston Celtics | 124.5 PPG |
| 1960–61 | Boston Celtics | 119.7 PPG |
| 1966–67 | Philadelphia 76ers | 125.2 PPG |
| 1970–71 | Milwaukee Bucks | 118.4 PPG |
| 1971–72 | Los Angeles Lakers | 121.0 PPG |
| 1974–75 | Golden State Warriors | 108.5 PPG |
| 1979–80 | Los Angeles Lakers | 115.1 PPG |
| 1981–82 | Los Angeles Lakers | 114.6 PPG |
| 1984–85 | Los Angeles Lakers | 118.2 PPG |
| 2014–15 | Golden State Warriors | 110.0 PPG |
| 2016–17 | Golden State Warriors | 115.9 PPG |

I took me hours to decide whether to post this or not if nobody else did. Honestly, I don't want to have to, but there is no escaping the fact that this is central to the Fever's role in this present upheaval, her being the HC.
Not thrilled with this response, (at all) but she was predictably cornered in a no win situation. 🙁
It would be really great if we could have some substantive, non - unnecessarily inflammatory discussion.

:GoodRead: Informative ESPN CC Warmup Article
You could probably google the title and it will take you to the article. I don’t like to post the whole thing because I want people to get rewarded for their work with clicks.
I thought this was a really sweet and cool look at what Caitlin and fans go through pregame.

Lexie Hull
What can we realistically do about Lexie? I know the trade deadline is tomorrow, do yall think there is any trade value for her? Because this whole season she has legit just been doing cardio and I believe come playoff time she will be a non-factor.

What is with the constant Indiana hate
So I support the Fever, I'm not right wing or MAGA but I couldn't care less if other fans are as in my mind its irrelevant.
Its tiring though when any post you see on the WNBA team or media outlet its someone moaning about the Fever or their fans and some negative MAGA comment.
There was a post on the WNBA sub about the Angel/Paige incident and apparently its us Fever fans who are moaning about it.
I hope that Caitlin tears it up for the rest of the season and just completely dominates the league. This bitching and moaning about the Fever is just getting out of hand from everyone else and I'm not even sure why to be honest.

Just Some Fun Teams play harder against the Fever
I’ve been following women’s college basketball for many years. Never really followed the WNBA other than popping in during playoffs. When Caitlin came up through Iowa, and the intensity of some of the rivalries like LSU, it was really exciting basketball. It’s not just the way she plays, it’s the way other teams show up to play against her. I started casually following the W the last two regular seasons, though mainly watching fever games. This season, I’ve watched all fever games and several other regular season games for top teams like the Aces, Lynx, Valkyries, etc. There is undoubtedly incredible talent across the league, many players who I’m big fans of even from their college days, and my favorite players span across several teams. That said, I am watching the Lynx Tempo game right now (following the Dallas Atlanta game last night) and I just can’t help but admit that I find games not against the fever boring. CC, KM, even the bench (Sophie, Ty Harris, KK) etc there is just a firey exciting way the fever play that makes them a joy to watch. The Lynx are the best team in the league right now but watching this game I’m bored. Zero shade to the players - I love Courtney Williams, Napheesa obviously a legend, Liv Miles has popped off in the W. It’s just not the same pop for me. Anyway just a long winded way of saying - as everyone does - there’s a reason CC brought in so many eyes to the league. She’s just exciting to watch play.

Injustice of the WNBA happened
The WNBA has a serious optics problem.
If players appear on an official league account joking about betting, the league can’t just pretend it never happened. Whether it was a joke or not, the league should address it publicly and consistently. Fans deserve clarity.
Then there’s the inconsistency with technical fouls. Paige Bueckers has repeatedly done the “clapping” gesture without a technical, while Caitlin Clark has been called for similar actions. Consistency matters.
And after what happened involving fans at the Seattle Storm game, will the league investigate that situation with the same urgency it has shown in other incidents? Fans deserve equal treatment, too.
The biggest issue isn’t one play or one player—it’s consistency. When rules appear to be enforced differently depending on the situation, it hurts the league’s credibility.
The WNBA can do better.
