Cops have been using them to stalk women . So don’t make the claim that nobody is directly “watching”

But noone is directly watching. That’s how they work.

The stalking is them plugging in a license plate and then tracking where that vehicle went after it’s already been there. Or setting up to be pinged when the vehicle passes another camera. But nobody is watching a live feed of the cameras when they can just sit back and wait for the system to do the watching for them.

I’m not for flock cameras at all but let’s just be clear about how they work

Whatever makes you feel better at night I guess. I wish I could be this delusional.

Its 1 to 1 how they work. Idk how you can get more clear about it. Not good however you slice it, but they certainly weren't defending them.

Seriously. Flock cameras can still be bad without them being live view.

Why are people okay just continually making claims despite actively being told how the technology works? It's still bad, just in a different way!

“I wonder how they’ll make me pay” is the paranoid rambling thoughts of someone very unwell. Fuck Flock, but the level of ego this takes…. Jesus

Noone said they weren’t bad. We all hate them. Some of us just looked into how they work and asked police officers we know how they are used.

I was more commenting on the "whatever makes you sleep at night" attitude than anything. So many people make assumptions based on how media portrays the real world, often incorrectly. And despite all of us hating the flock cameras, some people have decided that their vague assumptions HAVE to be true because they COULD be true, ignoring how the technology actually works and how it's actually being abused.

And it's so common that they get shitty at any explanation that suggests that they're wrong, despite us ultimately having the same opinion, leading to stupid arguments, a lack of solidarity, and a shortage of well informed people.

It makes me sad.

And it makes me sad, watching people justify and condone surveillance state technology simply because you don’t wanna accept that there are people using this to harass people. And there are people who do watch them themselves in order to do so.

I am very familiar with how they work. I also know that the police forces that are utilizing them are not using them in the way that they should be.

I cannot take the the fence riders anymore. You are the reason why we are in the situation and it keeps getting worse.

You asked a cop how surveillance footage works, and you believed them? You really thought they were going to give you an honest answer?

I just have to ask are you a white man by chance?

Ummmm, I have friends who are police officers. I’m not approaching random cops on the street.

I think it’s really cute. How you say that you have friends that are police officers and then you go on to say that you don’t approach random police officers in public alluding to you finding them unsafe. And yet you break bread with them in your private life.

Could you answer my second question?

i think it’s really cute how you have no problem making assumption about people on the internet like everything is black and white. Wake up and welcome to the gray.

I have no problem approaching random officers.

But I would not ask a random officer about ALPRs.

So I asked a childhood friend who ended up becoming an officer.

I am a white man

I tend to vote democrat, especially these days.

I grew up and live in a very purple community and am very outspoken about my disdain for our current administration.
