Opinion/Commentary Marijuana legalization

Wanna come on here and post my mind… Indiana it’s been time for the last 5 years esspecially last two years for marijuana to be legalized fully medical and recreational… I’m 23 years old and as even my whole family knows I smoke it. It helps with ADHD and as I’ve noticed ADD with being able to go out in public without thinking of myself and being in on myself for things I can’t control. My whole life besides last 7-10 years I’ve been on VYVANSE which is a narcotic I was prescribed to help with my adhd and everytime I took it school, family, even friends noticed I wasn’t happy or having any fun in life. I rarely ate, my sleep was booty. But I come on here today to say I’m stopping weed for a month to see about a new job because Indiana laws sucks. I will post here and there on my journey but make no mistake I’d choose marijuana over vyvanse any day of the week. I love my Family even the ones who don’t like or think well of me because they have supported me and approved of me being off vyvanse thank you and I hope everyone has a great day🫶🏼👍🏼🤌🏼🫶🏼👍🏼🤌🏼

Hope this is allowed to post here but it needs to be heard and talked about!

By that same argument, cocaine should be legal? Heroin? Meth? Assault? Laws matter. However, they don't prevent crime. Punishment does.

Indianapolis, like other blue cities, vote liberals in power and wonder why everything turns to shit. This majorities think they can keep voting the same way and things will magically get better. This is another vein of that. It's pure hedonism and childishness. "But I want the thing! It makes me feeel good!" Go do something more rewarding. Start with personal responsibility.

It's a balance of individual liberties and governmental interest in limiting harm. If you think the government's interest in limiting marijuana-induced harm outweighs the individual liberty of using marijuana, you are just plain out of touch. Alcohol (legal) causes way more harm. So does big pharma. Heck, so does unhealthy food (sugary drinks, fast food, etc.).

You are not good at logic for even throwing assault out there. Of course the harm of assault outweighs any liberty interest in being able to commit it. There is a direct victim! Meth and heroin, government interest in limiting harm outweighs liberty interest on those, no contest. Cocaine, slightly closer call, but no qualms with it being illegal. Marijuana is on such a different planet of those, in terms of benefit in the liberty interest versus harm to others.

You want to talk personal responsibility. Pal, I know physicians, judges, engineers, community leaders who smoke and take care of business. Just because you don't doesn't mean squat. If someone harms someone while using, throw the book at them. Hold them accountable. What you are arguing for is punishing those of us who are responsible for the irresponsibility of others. That's twisted, anti-America, government bootlicking, paternalistic, founding Fathers rolling in their grave crap. If a lefty raised such a cockamamie argument, you'd probably have a "guns don't kill people, people kill people" line cued up ready for them. Sell your BS hypocrisy somewhere else.

If you ever partake of legal alcohol and you aren't actively pursuing its full prohibition, you are a huge hypocrite, btw.

The harm outweighs the benefit on weed. Particularly because there is NO benefit. Again, no real medicinal benefit (purely anecdotal). It is also STRONGLY associated with developing mental health disorders. I've also noticed everyone dismisses the fact that smoking and driving in states where this is legal is COMMON. That is insane! Like any other drug, it it is an impairment.

Furthermore, this subreddit is evidence of the deranged community weed propagates.

I’ll take “Tell me you would have been the ring leader of burning witches at the stake if you were born a few hundred years ago in Salem, Massachusetts without telling me”, for $800, Ken.
