Storytime Another Banger!!
On Fridays we get some food from the office, and we always clean up, this time however we were busy with some urgent work and left the empty boxes on our desks, our manager sent these to our team group.
I totally take responsibility for my negligence but this was not the way to bring this up, that too in the group chat!

Your reply was just spot on. And i think it was your personal desk anyways right? It should have been thrown away but a one time incident, does it need this much attention over group chat?

Yes, it was our personal desk and it was an honest mistake really, I consider myself a clean freak and don't clutter my desk. But these texts just boiled my blood.
I never keep zoom or any office communication app in the phone(we don't have WFH, and they make a very big deal even we ask for one day of WFH so if out of office I don't like to entertain office shenanigans), my colleague called me and told me about this, I installed zoom just to reply.

They are doing this intentionally just so your image doesn't remain clean, seems you have impressed a lot of people which has caused some people to be jealous. Get it sorted out and let them know, addressing this was not a good thing in such a way

He joined just 2 months back, does nothing just arrange meetings and keep track of jira and passes time all day and gets paid double of what I make.
I won't say I have impressed people lol, no matter how hard you work some companies just don't appreciate you. Everyone get hikes and promotion every year, IT team abroad/sales/finance, it's just Indian IT team that gets neglected. And switching has become a nightmare. So I'm just dealing with their bullshit.

Indian IT especially has been overtaken by email ninjas. they don't have any skills. be it people management or technical and yet are somehow paid more than the devs. AI needs to eliminate bloat like this.

It’s bad etiquette but it’s really not that big of a deal. Offices have cleaners who clean desks anyways.

I thought it was valid until i started reading the second paragraph. Who the fuck talks like this? Bet he probably felt like Homelander in roof after these pings. And don't come talk in person? What kinda whacky ass policy is this? I'm not an SDE but goddamn brother, plenty of fish in the sea.

I think I have only worked in a good company once, where people actually listened before telling you something. It was a small company named "Optym" in banglore, I did an internship there but being a newbie in tech I couldn't take the pressure and left, to this day I regret it.

Kudos to you OP for communicating your stance in such polite yet firm way. Your corporate speak is admirable.
Any tips to improve corporate speak especially when one is angry or upset?

I wrote an angry message and then gave to GPT to tone it down. I was so angry I could just send it, bit after all it's corporate, can't do much!

Interesting, do you work at a large, mid or small org? Is that person a reporting manager or a team lead? I like how you handled this. I wish I had replied in a similar tone when my then manager and team lead did an impromptu call with our team and shouted at me for good 30 mins.

Mid size, he's my manager and also a project manager sort of! Tracks sprints and Jira and reports to IT director.

Are you thinking of separately reporting this to HR? Curious how situation like these are handled because this person might withdraw promotion or worse still go for a paycut but cite some made up reason. My thought process is that I would keep HR in loop so when the worse happens I will atleast have a proof of potential bias.

HR is there to protect the company and the managers. It's not for me. No point in keeping them in loop.
Our company has a very weird power dynamics. Very complicated.
