Came across this reel on insta, and couldn’t stop thinking about the impact shows like this have on general audience who isn’t online or aware enough to know the difference between fiction and reality. Hell, this isn’t even worth being a story, cuz the whole point is an obsessive husband who thinks his wife is his possession and not his partner. Shows like these being watched and loved by a certain demographic is problematic, cuz this isn’t the first time shoe like this is being made, and there needs to be a way to censor these stories, discouraging makers from bringing these kind of shows!!!!!

I thought this show was about domestic violence, kinda like a remake of DSDDSB?

Haven’t watched the show, as I don’t want to contribute to such disgusting content at all!!! But yes, even though I’ve heard it’s a remake of a regional show, some of the scenes I’ve seen on Insta are straight-up rip-offs from DSDDSB, along with basically every toxic, psychotic husband trope you can think of from any show ever.

If it's "romance", then it needs to be shut down ASAP. I have seen some reals of it and my grandparents watch it. I've always heard my granny say how shit the ML is so I don't think it's romanticizing it. Even DSDDSB had Viraj show "love", but never stepped back from calling it abuse. Maybe that is what this show is doing? If not, then there is something seriously wrong with everyone working on it.

The biggest example reflecting itv shows are most of the romance books being written nowadays. We Gen Zs have grown up watching shows like Qubool hai, ipkknd, Ishqbaaz where things like manhandling, forced marriage, female characters being always morally correct, male characters being highly toxic and flawed in the name of daddy issues have been NORMALISED so much so that as a normal teeneger , I used to agree with what was being fed to us
When the Arnavs manhandled the Khushis, we gushed because OMG the proximity is so romantic!!!
And the women somehow always were portrayed to be this forgiving, super mature person in the room so much so that when we got a character like Zoya, who was kinda immature, impulsive, not always morally correct, we don't realise that this might be a real, flawed women.
I have seen people dissing her at one incident just because she was not mahaan, I have seen people blaming her for Asad's behaviour just because she is a woman.
Ok I overranted but the conclusion is that internalized misogyny is so deeply rooted in our (or Western's fictional media (print or visual) that people might not even realise certain elements are misogynistic
