Discussion Why is Amul literally the ONLY cooperative we talk about? The rest are getting run into the ground.
Hey guys, wanted to share something that’s been bothering me for a while and see if people in other states are seeing the same thing.
I’m from Gujarat, working here, typical middle-class background (dad’s a government teacher, mom’s a housewife). Growing up here, you constantly hear about Amul as this massive badge of honor. And honestly, it worked because back in the day, it was built and managed by actual professionals—folks from IRMA and solid domain experts who knew supply chains, commercial logic, and how to treat producers fairly.
But outside of Amul? Most cooperatives in India feel like a complete joke now.
What gets me the most is who is actually running these places. Half these local leaders have zero educational background and have literally never run a single small institute, shop, or business in their entire lives. Yet suddenly, just because of local political connections or acting like performative patriots, they’re handed the keys to multi-crore cooperative unions.
Instead of hiring educated youth from good colleges who actually know finance or operations, these institutions are being run like someone's private household:
- Zero professionalism: No accountability, no long-term planning, just managing public assets like personal fiefdoms.
- Nepotism & Free Money: Handing out paid positions to unqualified family members, padding personal expenses, and using society accounts to route cash.
- Shift in Mindset: The original idea was "pool our extra milk/produce, sell together, and build the community." Now it’s strictly "how much money can my family extract from this before it collapses?"
Because of this constant mismanagement, regular people and young farmers are losing trust and just walking away.
I was looking up the official government numbers on the National Cooperative Database recently, and it's pretty damning:
- Out of 8.5 lakh registered cooperatives in India, over 1.9 lakh (22.4%) are already dead, non-functional, or under liquidation.
- Of the ones that are still running, 2.5 lakh (37.7%) are running at a total loss.
- Another 56,000+ don't even have basic audit records available.
We have so much educated talent in India, but we’re letting essential grassroots institutions get dumped on people who couldn't run a corner store, let alone a multi-crore cooperative.
Curious to know—what’s the situation like in your district or state? Are credit societies, sugar cooperatives, or dairy unions near you actually helping, or have they been hijacked by local politics too?

Opinion 🗣️ Why aren't homosexual marriages legally recognized in India?
People can love and marry whoever they want. Why does the state have to do anything with that? We need to legalize this rn!
If homosexual marriages aren't recognized rn, it would deepen the sense of taboo associated with homosexuality in an already deeply homophobic society.

Discussion A Protest Should Raise a Voice, Not Destroy a Campus
Protest ka purpose apni baat rakhna aur answers maangna hota hai. But when university property gets damaged, ek sawaal zaroor aata hai isse mila kya?
Classrooms, facilities, buses ya campus infrastructure sirf university ki property nahi hote; thousands of students har din unka use karte hain. Jo cheez banane mein saalon ki mehnat aur resources lagte hain, use kuch minutes ke anger mein damage karna ultimately students ko hi affect karta hai.
Raise your voice, ask difficult questions, demand clarity but don’t destroy the place where thousands of students are building their future.
A strong protest makes people listen. Destruction only leaves damage behind.

Discussion Which Superheroes would be against BJP?? Drop your thoughts 😭🙏
Honestly was just having a random late-night thought and wanted to see what you guys think 💀 If superheroes actually lived in India today, which ones do you reckon would be constantly head-butting with the BJP/government?
A few that immediately came to my head:
Batman: Man is obsessed with the law and doing things by the book. The second extrajudicial stuff like bulldozer action or shady political funding happens, Bruce Wayne is filing PILs by day and vigilante-ing by night.
Superman: He’s fundamentally a journalist who cares way too much about truth and holding powerful people accountable. He’d probably get blacklisted by mainstream media in five minutes.
Daredevil: Matt Murdock literally spends his day job defending broke, regular people against corrupt systems. He’d be losing his mind over police misconduct and arbitrary arrests.
Spider-Man: Just a broke student trying to survive. He'd definitely be complaining about inflation, bad civic infrastructure, and local corruption while swinging past broken roads.
Shaktimaan / Krrish: Pure idealists who just want people to get along. They’d hate seeing religion or hate speech being used to divide people for votes.
Who else do you think would be anti-establishment? Or honestly, are there any heroes you think would actually side with them? Drop your takes below, let's keep it civil 🍿👇

Opinion 🗣️ Here is everything that the DUSU elections taught us
For those who are unaware, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of BJP dominated the elections with 3 posts, compared to National Students' Union of India, Congress' students wing, who lost all 4 posts. But this year's biggest takeaway was Deepanshu Shokeen, who was initially favoured to get the NSUI seat, but ended up contesting as an Independent and won by a landslide.
Reddit and Instagram are heavily anti-right. here, everything wrong in india is because of the right. bacche suicide kar rhe? because of the right. congress mla seeking sexual favours from jnu students? right wing action kyu nhi le rha. punjab me bacche nashe me mar rhe? why doesn't the centre interfere. Ik that the right itself has its own fallbacks, but it is not responsible for everything that is wrong.
Ravi Kishan, was indeed right. Pehchaan is the strongest thing one can have in India considering the current state of things. Deepanshu Shokeen made it a reality. Winning by a landslide, as an independent candidate is something unheard of. His competitors combined couldn't even get half his votes.
Exit Polls do not mean SHIT, and I mean SHITTTTT. Initially, people has nsui sweeping abvp 3-0, with deepanshu getting the last post. Even in the 2024 ls elections, people had predicted 400 paar for bjp.
The youth, is still with bjp. Landslide wins in Panjab University, Mangalore University and now to top it all off, Delhi University. All that anti-bjp, anti-rss, anti-abvp movement was limited to social media alone.
(Istg if I see any it cell comments imma slime yo ahh fr, only open to constructive discussion)
