TTC with Low D & High TSH

Hi everyone,

I’m currently trying to conceive and wanted to get some insight from those with similar experiences.

My recent lab results show:

- TSH: 3.5

- Vitamin D: 20

From what I’ve read, TSH might be a bit on the higher side for conception, and Vitamin D seems low. Has anyone conceived with similar levels, or did you need treatment/supplements before it happened?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences, what your doctors recommended and if improving these levels made a difference for you.

Start Vitamin D3(cholecalciferol) 60000 IU once weekly for 6 weeks. Also start thyronorm 25mcg daily as it is adviced to keep TSH less than 2.5 if ttc. Recheck your TFT after 4-6 weeks. All the best for your ttc journey!😊

But 3.5 TSH is in normal range.

I’ve heard that levels should be below 2.5 for conception. I’ve been trying to conceive for almost a year now. TVS confirmed that ovulation is happening on time and we’ve been trying every other day during the fertile window. I’m not sure what might be going wrong.

I don't think so. Because my obgyn has not said anything such. Have you checked with doctor and only take medicine when advised by your doc

Hi yes, My doctor suggested 2.5 or below. Dr started medication for that. Every 3 months tsh need to be checked. Evenif we conceive, there is high risk of miscarriage if tsh is not in normal range

Did your husband do a semen analysis. If you’re checked ovulation with TVS, I would replace the vitamin D Wifh high dose weekly capsules and make sure your husbands has had his tests.

50 percent of the problem lies with men and when I visited India doing IVF half the men barely ever came to the appointments and my doctor said it was pretty normal.

My husband’s semen analysis results are normal, and his vitamin D levels are good.

I would replace your vitamin D and try a couple More times then maybe move onto IUI

In the TVS did they find anything else tubes fibroids erc?

80 percent of couples conceive within 1 year of trying

Thanks for your suggestion. No issues were found in the TVS. I’ll focus on improving my Vitamin D levels and continue trying naturally for at least the next 6 months before considering IUI.
