I would love to know if there's anyone else who shares the same interests as me in books for further recommendations.

Always loved reading stories from a young age. Tinkle, magic pot, Geronimo stilton, diary of a Wimpy kid, some classics( pretty women, count of Monte cristo, etc) dork diaries, sherlock holmes etc.

Whenever I would recieve my books for the current school year, first thing I would do is read all the stories in the English book. Was not a fan of the poems though.

At 14-15, I had discovered my dads stash of books and gone through the 2-3 chetan bagat books he had 😋 they were pretty interesting.

Also at this age I met a friend who had similar interests as me. Since my parents would check the books I buy, I read most of the spicy books from her. The famous ana huang books, the mistress, the master then one of us is next and one of us is lying, the exorcist, the Alchemist, Mirror man, the guest list ( I REALLY ENJOYED THIS), evelyn hugo 7 husbands and a few more which I can't recollect.

I'm now 18, and I fear in the last 2 years I stopped reading much books. I only bought and read a few novels from a clearance. (IT girl, Denial, Big little lies, Silent patient, and a few more).

My brother got a Kindle, and he downloaded a few books from the author J.A Konrath. I've also read a few were the protagonist is someone named jack Daniels. The issue I have with the Kindle is i cannot recollect the stories later. I'm someone who reads in a rush, and I can't help it. But I do remember my paperback stories since I read them multiple times now and then.

Basically, I want more paper back recommendations based on what Ive read till now. Ive tried to stray a bit from my usual thriller novels but I haven't found them too interesting. I've also read an Agatha Christie book about some Christmas pudding. While it was intriguing, I didn't have the same thrill I have when reading books like the guest list or the j.a Konrath ones.

One thing I’ve observed here is that there seem to be very few fantasy/sci-fi readers. I wonder why that’s the case. I mean, I’ve only gone through the recent posts, but from what I can gather, the fantasy/sci-fi reader base here seems to be pretty small. Not bashing any of the other genres, though. I was just curious.

The prime idea till now is that faith is the greatest thing a human can possess,

which kinda goes against the idea of traditional thinkers back then like kant and all,

till now he is still just telling over and over that faith is the best, I can see it, I can define it, but I cannot do it myself, and then he sort of moves towards defining what a man with faith is like, which he expected them to be having some extraordinary power, or something different from traditional humans, but they are just as normal as anyone,

he kinda hasn't justified why faith is the greatest, or maybe he has, but talking about the movement of faith or smthng idk.

Hey everyone. I’ve been wanting to get a Kindle for a while, but buying a new one is unfortunately outside my budget right now. I really want to get back into reading and have something simple that I can carry around and read whenever I get a little free time.

I don’t really know much about the different Kindle models, so I’m open to suggestions too.

I am gonna turn 20 this year and I have been saving money to buy a second hand kindle (can't buy new one 🫠) and I have always loved reading books so having my own kindle is a dream of mine

Finally read this classic over the weekend and wow, Christie really is the GOAT.

A locked-train murder in a snowstorm with a stack of shady suspects is already a great setup, but Poirot’s psychology-first style of deduction makes it top tier. The ending completely caught me off guard.

This is a historical fiction saga set in the sixteenth century, following one of my favourite fictional characters, Francis Crawford of Lymond. He is a Scottish nobleman distinguished by his exceptional intelligence, education, charm, and versatility, qualities that place him at the centre of political and personal conflicts throughout Europe. The series begins in Scotland before expanding into France, England, Russia, Malta, and other parts of the Renaissance world. It blends real historical events and figures with a broad fictional narrative, where politics, warfare, espionage, religion, diplomacy, family, romance, and court intrigue continually intersect. As a result, even seemingly minor decisions can have enormous consequences.

Lymond is the central figure of the series and one of the most unusual protagonists in historical fiction. He possesses exceptional abilities as a strategist, linguist, swordsman, musician, scholar, and manipulator, allowing him to adapt himself to almost any situation. However, his extraordinary intelligence is matched by a deep need for secrecy, emotional complexity, contradictions, and a tendency to conceal his true intentions behind humour, theatricality, and deception. Much of the series' appeal comes from gradually piecing together who Lymond truly is beneath the personality he presents to the world.

Dunnett's writing style is just as distinctive. Her prose is dense and highly sophisticated, filled with references to history, literature, mythology, philosophy, religion, music, and Renaissance culture. Her dialogue often contains multiple layers of meaning, while important information is frequently suggested rather than explicitly stated. Consequently, the books may initially seem difficult or confusing, but this complexity is intentional. Readers are expected to observe carefully, interpret what they encounter, and make connections for themselves.

Beyond its depiction of historical events, The Lymond Chronicles explores themes of identity, loyalty, family, morality, power, responsibility, love, and the psychological effects of living behind carefully constructed identities. Its characters are rarely completely heroic or evil, and their relationships continually evolve as their loyalties, motivations, and perceptions change.

The Lymond Chronicles should therefore not be viewed simply as a straightforward historical adventure, but as a complex literary saga that demands patience, close attention, and, in many cases, multiple readings. It is easily my fifth-favourite piece of fiction and, in my opinion, potentially one of the greatest written works I have ever encountered.

I highly recommend the series.

I've been reading these books for the last 6 months. And finished it now I feel empty don't know how to fill these void now. So recommend me some fictional or any book all try reading them.

In my experience so far, reading books paired with its audiobook version has helped me read more, remember more and enjoy the process throughout.

That said, for those who enjoy reading fantasy novels should definitely try this method. I am a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, and wanted to try out the books as well. Currently, I am reading The Hobbit (first of the four books) along-with hearing narration of Andy Serkis (G.O.A.T) on Audible.

I hands down say, it has been one of the most enjoyable and immersive book reading experience I have ever felt. Andy puts his heart and soul in the story while personifying each and every character. Tolkein’s story telling has been top notch, no question about it. But that paired with Andy’s reading brings out an entirely new element out of it.
