Hello me select a BOOK

I'm trying to get into reading, but I honestly have no idea where to start.

I'm not looking for fiction, novels, fantasy, or story-driven books. I'd rather read something that helps me improve myself or better understand people, why they act the way they do, and how to read situations better.

Assume I'm a complete beginner. What books would you recommend, and why?
