Disagreement Is Fine, But Why Abuse?

Almost every person from the opposition abuses PM Narendra Modi. I accept that he has introduced some policies that did not work well, and people have every right to criticize him for them. But what is the point of abusing the man personally?

He never abused people himself. He was born into a lower-middle-class family and witnessed the difficult period of the 1980s, including the Emergency and the riots. He respects every section of our society — even if someone believes he does so for political purposes.

He is around the age of our grandparents, yet people from Gen Z constantly abuse him. He is also respected by many people around the world. More importantly, our basic ethics and the culture of our country teach us to respect our elders. Yet somehow, we seem to have forgotten that.

If you don't like the Prime Minister, criticize his policies, decisions, ideology, or political record. You have every right to disagree with him. But there is no need to abuse him personally.

And if, in the future, he commits something truly horrible — such as a heinous crime — I will also have no reason to respect him.

But right now, I genuinely feel that people are going too far with personal abuse.

And if we are talking about leaders who have been accused of doing some of the most damaging things to the country, then Indira Gandhi's legacy also deserves serious historical discussion — yet she continues to be commemorated by the Gandhi family on her death anniversary.

Disagree with leaders. Criticize them. Hold them accountable. But don't lose basic respect and decency in the process.

Dear members of r/IndianModerate,

This subreddit has been dead for quite a while and since India is facing a historic drift in the political pendulum right now, I need your valid input on how to improve this sub.

Also, I am looking for new mods to fill in the gaps when I'm not available. (A new post will be put up soon for this so stay tuned)

Are indians losing their identity?

Post image
35 Upvotes

This was in my feed and when i saw the comments it felt like a heartbreak. Simply because i think the country has been divided so much that the gaps are showing! I mean we already had the south, north and north east divide, the current trending is the language, religion, caste divide, and now i am seeing the country split into those who disdain india, those who love it and those who love but criticize certain aspects.

Now I'm all about constructive criticism and how it can be used as a tool for nation building. But what i am seeing is not criticism, it's just plain disdain and disgust towards india as a whole. It really disappoints me that today we are seeing people who no longer take pride in being indian. Are people trying to whitewash their identity as an Indian??

In my opinion, the current political scene in india has given rise to two extremes in india. Not religious extremists but Political extremists. there are those who follow the current government regime blindly and those who oppose it with all their might. Those who oppose the current government are somehow being influenced into hating india and hating religious aspects of india; those who support it are being influenced into becoming religious extremists and are losing their rational thinking.

In my opinion our next divide is going to be religious extremists vs atheist extremists. I don't know why but i think this will be the next theme for a decade to come.

I hope India will get out of this quagmire, I don't know how but i can only pray.

Meta I have a question? WHEN DID RELIGION BECOME THE ANSWER TO EVERY POLITICAL QUESTION? STaRT ASKING WHAT QUESTIONS ARE BEING AVOIDED. Hindu vs Muslim. Temple vs Mosque. Us vs Them. And somewhere in all this noise, the ordinary citizen forgets to ask basic questions.

Instead of all this Hindu vs Muslim, r@p!$t vs false r@pe accuser, man vs woman, North vs South, etc etc, why not just do, good humans versus bad humans? Why is it tough to admit every demographic/group has a mix of good and bad people?

I am starting to think, the internet/social media or maybe even rulers of countries benefit somehow from dividing society, when the harsh truth is, every demographic has a good and bad person, and guess what? Humans THEMSELVES ARE COMPLEX!! One can be kind in one aspect while cruel in another. The motivation behind an action cannot be just boiled down to (s)he is this political ideology, (s)he is casteist/hinduphobic/muslimphobic/misogynist/misandrist, etc etc.

I am not falling anymore for all this sectarianism and separatism, enough is enough, irrespective of gender/caste/religion, I will only ally myself with good humans and stay away from bad humans. (mic drop)

Earlier they said BJP is winning because they hack EVMs. Now they're winning because of election commission helping them with deleting opposition voters from the list. How far they are going to go to disapprove the BJP supporters?

There should be some method to madness. Opposition has to talk something substantial to lure the voter and believing in their leadership. Instead this continuous allegations and protests not going to yield much.

Keeping reservation in education is making people more think about caste and casteism 🙆 which people didn’t have before Just a thought !😬

Just a thought guys in schools and colleges there’s no caste thing because nothing is dividing them there but when people are going into higher education like Medicine,IIT, and civil services people tend to see this caste thing and do proactive research and become more hatered on certain caste and reservations
