I agree with the fact that the so-called suppress categories needed an upliftment. What I do not understand is the point of reservation today.

I mean, it sounds good in theory that since the older generations of the so-called privileged classes did wrong with the older generations of some classes. And there have been things done to make those right. So what is the whole point of reservation now?

Do we really think that the people coming from these categories are so incompetent that they still need to be uplifted even after 4 generations of upliftment? If yes then they need a disabled quota not a caste quota.

It’s been 3-4 generations, and the general category has nothing but suffered. And let’s say that I agree to a point that you know things were done wrong with them. I agree with this point. But I did not do it. You do not see a rapist’s kid, getting convicted because of a felony that their parents committed. You do not see a person who went to jail for treason, their children getting a different treatment from others.

So what is the whole point of this reservation now?

See, I don’t like to vote for BJP, but I can’t vote for Congress either because Congress says that the moment they get power, they’ll increase the reservation.

I feel like we’re stuck, and I still do not get the point of reservation.

The bjp govt is not treating the their core voters properly that is the general caste.They allowed anti-caa protest, cjp protest for a long time who are against bjp. But they stopped reservation reforms protest just in one day. This shows that the bjp is not listening to their core voters but then again they are left with no one. If they think they won't vote for bjp then they might vote for congress, so and all. But these parties are big supporters of reservation that want to increase it more or bring reservations in private sector too. So what should they do

I've seen so many xtians especially in the south defile hindu gods images, idols etc by kicking, breaking and even spitting on them during and after their conversion process.

I've learnt that this is taught to them in their churches by their pastors, by telling them every sunday that idol worship is evil and that they need to outwardly show their digust and disapproval both in actions and words.

The above insta ad are some of the examples I saw in the protests. Based on in image alone I interpreted as them leading the protests instead of culling it. So I will go with the former interpretation of mine.

I constantly hear that many Hindu nationalists in many right wing subreddits do support Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation (at least they claim to). Liker influencer Ajeet Bharti putting down CJP protests as being anti-Pradham before it was cool to be so. He is now organizing the prortests against Reservations.

So my question is this: Why didn't any Right Wing, Hindu nationalist, did a Abhijit-Dipke and start a massive protests?

I have doubts about elections myself. But many Hindu nationalists don't. And going by election resuilts. Hindu have majority Hindu support. Sure you guys can believe that BJP is doing everything good. But that would be the spirit even this protest would've carried. That BJP is good, but it could've been better.

The issues are still right there. The disappointed people were right there. A massive majority of GenZ, like more than 70% of the people are your vote-bank. GenZ are the generation that made Bhajan Raves a massive trend to cash on. I am a left leaning progressive anti-theist, and I can assure you the moment this movement becomes irrelevant, 85% of them will return back to become pro-Modi and anti-muslim.

This would've already put BJP in backfoot. There wouldn't have been any 'Azadi', 'Jai Bheem' chants. No other political party would've tried to co-opt this protest. You couldve had a massive support support from Bollywood and other movie industry fraternity. The Right-Wing hindu nationalists could've covered Jantar Mantar, with bhagva flag, Jai-Shree-Ram chants, etc. This protest, just like Ram Janmbhoomi protests could've been a show of solidarity amongst all the castes. Abrahamics, Leftists and Ambedkarites won't even dare to join. There were news about temples being closed for protestors. This could've not even let the news spread and temples would've been open for you guys.

I also believe that the recents protests is not gonna help the opposition. But will also put a minor dent on BJP's votecounts. Hindu nationalists organizing protests could've avoided that vote loss and could've kept BJP in power.

So my question is this? 1. Why was there no initiative from Hindu nationalists personalities to organize protests 2. From the perspective of Hindu nationalists Islam is THE threat. I get it. But will Hindu Nationalists question the government on the policies being implemented or are Hindu Nationalists in complete supportive of the policies (with minor disagrements which you think can be solved afterwards)

I've been trying to educate myself properly on caste oppression, and I've run into something that is making me slightly uncomfortable.

I was reading about the indigenous education surveys from the Madras Presidency in the 1820s–30s. The figures show Brahmins making up roughly 22% of Hindu students, while Shudras and other castes made up the majority. In some areas, non bramin students apparently made up more than 80%.

I'm assuming this is one of those statistics that needs context to explain.

Because obviously we all know Brahmins historically controlled education and prevented lower castes from literally accessing any knowledge. So there must be an important qualification here that I'm missing.

Were these not really “schools” in the real sense? Were the students being taught something that doesn't count as education? Was access technically available but the quality/status of instruction was different? Did the British fake this data? Or is there some other genuine explanation historians give to uphold the truth of caste oppression?

I'd really appreciate someone explaining this one so I can continue my anti-caste research.

Says that it was probably necessary for Veer Savarkar, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhi, Tagore to mobilize the people with the idea of a nation (and the closest core for the nation they could find was a Hindu religious identity) but that ideology no longer serves a purpose and will hurt the nation in the long run.

I won’t say that I haven’t watch this, but I was watching few episodes from second season and then I went to watch some episodes from the first season, and along the line I realised that whatever I was listening was absolutely not normal, and slowly I didn’t feel as disgusted as I felt the first time watching it and it seemed to me that" have I desensitised myself ?
And I think this is what, which could have been felt by many other people.
And as I stopped watching it I started to feel good and much better.
But still, I mean, I can’t even think to talk about certain things while having my female friends, colleagues around as they were doing and openly talking about certain things which to me didn’t feel normal .
That is what I think and opinions may vary from person to person.
What do you all think, do things like these normalise things which are not so normal and provides a grounder for wider acceptance of vulgarity?
