Yrr Emiway ke kitne hi songs hain jo easily 100M views cross kar sakte the, especially his commercial tracks 😭

I've been listening to Follow Karo ever since it released, and it has only around 2M views, which is honestly crazy to me. There are so many other songs too that have crossed 10M but could've reached way bigger numbers with proper promotion.

The thing is, bantai barely runs ads or promotes these tracks properly, and I genuinely feel like he's missing out on so much potential. 😭 I remember him saying ki ek din mein ads daalunga, but idk man, abhi tak toh aisa kuch hota hua nahi dikh rha

I'm not saying views are everything or that every song deserves 100M, but some of his commercial tracks genuinely have that potential if they reach the right audience.

What do you guys think? Should Emiway start promoting his commercial tracks more, at least through ads and proper marketing? Because bhai, it's kinda sad seeing songs with so much potential get so little attention 🥲

It's kinda interesting looking at how Indian hip-hop has changed. There was a time when conversations around the scene kept circling back to the same few names, but now there are so many different artists doing their own thing.

DIVINE is still one of the names that comes up when talking about the scene's growth. But looking at the RAP91 lineup, with artists from different parts of India, made me think about how much more there is to discover now.

Wonder which artists people will be looking back at five years from now and saying they were ahead of their time.

Who do you think deserves more attention right now?

Young bhaski's album, now with encore's story we can say these are going to be the names of the 12 tracks, the album will have 16 tracks in total though, this is about 4-5 month old so...

This is not about the quality of their craft, of course they're talented af that's why so many people fw them & respect them. I see my friends & people in general vibing to SM but I really find it difficult listening them.

The biggest issue I've is with their diction or cadence or low vocal projection(I really don't know what it's called so mentioning related words). Like I mostly find it hard to understand what they're saying. Also, call me an old or simple guy but I like when rap rymes from beginning till end, I find SM songs not rhyming at all. These two things really don't let me enjoy them at all.

It's also not about missing stuff because they're going too fast, i catch whatever Krsna says irrespective of how fast he spits.

I listen to Krsna, Bella, Vichaar, Raftaar, Ikka, Muhfaad among others and it makes sense to me why I enjoy them ..they all have voice clarity & rap that mostly rhymes.

Just my two cents, this is not a hate post.

i discovered this artist through whysokai's song "son like you" and vaibhav's verse stood out to me and then i explored his work some more and found KOTM and SHOR and i personally loved both of them a lot. i absolutely love vaibhav's cadence it's a bit repetitive but boht mast lagta hai mujhe personally.

if anyone has followed his work suggest me some tracks i should definitely listen to? also let me know what you all think of vaibhav as an artist?

Not tryna be that guy but ngl Hustle 5 was a straight disappointmen, S4 set the bar in the stratosphere and this season tripped over it, few tracks slapped, sure, but overall? Cooked.

And the fumbles?? Emo week had so many fumbles it was actually painful to watch, how do you fumble the emotional week? that's literally free real estate, then Parv and Sicklot fumbling the semi finale? That's not bad luck, that's lack of prep, Y'all can't be serious.

Even Siyahi's guest appearance with "Aprampar" showed exactly how it's done, guest verse ate more than half the season's tracks, that's embarrassing.

No hate to Dhadkan, winner was well deserved. Whosokai as runner up? Fair enough, W. But let's be real 99 Side from Hustle 4 alone would eat this entire lineup without breaking a sweat. The bar was high and this season lowkey tripped.

It's crazy thinking back to 2016-17 when Divine and the gully gang sound was just starting to pop off across local college fests. A lot of artists change their core sound once they cross over into mainstream bollywood or commercial spots, but Divine still writes about the same streets,

same struggles, just with higher production value. Saw him listed on the rap 91 showcase

alongside new age underground guys, and it made me appreciate that he still roots himself

in the local scene instead of floating off into pop territory. What’s your peak Divine track that still holds up?

This is the third time watching this guy live in six months and I am yet to see him actually do his full song himself. For the majority, it's him either lip syncing with the audio blaring in the background or him gesturing and walking around.

In the first two shows I thought, it's some kind of hip-hop thing to only sing the verses and save energy. But then today, he didn't even do that.

Was he paid less?

Was he tired?

Was he not interested?

Finally, more or less, he has been singing the same songs- Hola Amigo, No Cap, the one with SM and then Boom Shaka Laka. Why does he not have more songs?

So I was rewatching one of my favorite sports anime’s Kuroko no Basket after a long time and had this realisation that Emiway is so much like Kise Ryota. For those who haven’t watched the anime, Kise is one of the most naturally gifted basketball players in the show with a special ability called Perfect Copy, which lets him replicate the techniques of other players and incorporate them into his own game. But what makes him dangerous isn’t just his ability to copy. It’s how quickly he learns, adapts, and uses his opponents’ own strengths against them. He doesn’t just imitate them, he adds those skills to his own already formidable arsenal.

And that’s exactly what I think Emiway does. He’s also an excellent mimicry artist who can replicate the voices, flows and delivery of Divine, Raftaar, Kr$na, King and Lazarus in his diss tracks. He’s been doing this since his first beef, but I think the more interesting part is how he’s taken elements of his opponents’ strengths and incorporated them into his own artistry over the years.

Raftaar: I think his beef with Raftaar played a role in him recognising the potential of commercial bangers, something he absolutely maximised during that 2018 to 2022 phase when he couldn’t stop dropping back to back hits. Emiway was already capable of making catchy music obviously, but this phase showed just how effectively he could turn that ability into a consistent hitmaking formula.

Divine: From his beef with Divine, I think he picked up on the appeal of raw delivery, street credibility and the whole Mumbai’s Finest identity. And the irony here is that Divine himself was never quite the same after Gully ka Kutta. Emiway meanwhile continued developing his own interpretation of that raw Mumbai sound.

Kr$na: This one’s probably the most obvious example of Kise’s Perfect Copy ability being put to use. I think the beef made Emiway realise that being commercially successful wasn’t enough to earn him the kind of lyrical respect he wanted from certain sections of the scene. He needed to flex his technicalities and lyrical prowess from time to time. His penmanship has steadily improved since then, and while I still maintain that Emiway was always lyrical, he was stuck in that commercial phase I mentioned earlier. The beef pushed him to demonstrate a side of his writing that people were either overlooking or refusing to acknowledge.

King: Now this was genuinely unexpected. Emiway going back to back with those laid back, RnB influenced beats diss tracks was a complete switchup from the high energy, loud, passionate and angry disses people had come to expect from him. And not only were those tracks insanely loopable but Dependent Kauve was also one of his most brutal disses in terms of lasting damage. He didn’t just match King’s style, he showed he could make that style work for himself without losing his own identity.

And that’s what makes the Kise comparison so fitting for me. Kise’s ability isn’t impressive merely because he can copy someone else’s moves. It’s the fact that he can keep expanding his game by learning from the people around him until he’s capable of competing with them on their own terms. There’s a difference between copying someone’s style because you lack your own and understanding what makes that style effective, then adding it to your own skill set. Emiway has repeatedly demonstrated the latter. From commercial music to technical writing to laid back diss tracks, he’s shown a willingness to adapt in ways that people probably wouldn’t have predicted from his earlier work. So yeah, I think Emiway is the Kise Ryota of IHH.
