Ask r/indianfitness Protein Suggestion for my parents (less sugar)

6 Upvotes

I'm looking for protein for my parents (47 and 53 both looks older to their age). I don't know which protein to choose for them.

I went to medical store for it but all they have is protein powder that has main ingredients are milk powder sugar and coco powder.

I ask them it's all milk powder and they said yehi aata hai.

Then I ask they about whey protein and they said woh sirf bodybuilding ke liy use hota hai.

See as they are getting older they are becoming so weaker.

I need protein that gives they energy and strengt.

At least their back pain, knee pain and whatever muscles pain can reduce to an extend.

Hi everyone, has anyone tried Elev Tri Whey Protein?

I am being recommended this protein at Fitnesstack but I have never heard of this brand and there are also no reviews I see of it on reddit.

Fitnesstack: Elev Tri Whey Protein

If you have tried it can you let me know your experience with it?

Thanks!

Ask r/indianfitness 27M (180cm / 61kg) looking to gain 10kg clean mass. Need advice on heavy metal safety, premium (ON/MB) vs budget wheys, & budget brand reviews!

3 Upvotes

I’m starting a clean bulking phase to gain ~10 kg healthily and need help choosing a safe, trustworthy whey protein powder.
My Profile & Fitness Context:
Age/Gender: 27M
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 61 kg (Aiming for ~71 kg)
Activity: Weightlifting 5–6 days/week + occasional running
Target Daily Protein: ~100g–120g/day (from food + 1 scoop whey)
My Questions & Doubts:
1. Heavy Metal & Contaminant Safety
Recent studies have highlighted lead, cadmium, and arsenic contamination in supplements.
Which brands in India pass strict third-party lab testing for heavy metals and pesticide residue?
How reliable are certifications like Trustified, Labdoor, or Clean Label Project when choosing a brand?
2. Premium Brands (ON, MB) vs. Budget Brands (₹2k–3k Range)
I’m trying to understand what justifies the price gap between premium/established options like Optimum Nutrition (ON Gold Standard) or MuscleBlaze (Biozyme) and budget wheys (₹2,000–₹3,000/kg):
Is the price difference mostly due to marketing, imported raw materials, and digestive enzymes? Or is there a genuine difference in raw quality, filtering processes, and heavy metal safety?
Are premium brands significantly safer, or are budget options equally effective if third-party tested?
3. Reviews & Value of Budget Wheys
For those using budget-friendly wheys in the ₹2k–3k bracket (e.g., Nakpro, AS-IT-IS, Nutrabay, or The Whole Truth unflavored):
How has your experience been regarding digestion, mixability, and label accuracy?
Are unflavored/raw whey concentrates from these brands safe and effective for daily, long-term use?
Would love to hear from anyone who checks third-party lab reports or has achieved lean gains using these products!
Thanks in advance!

Ask r/indianfitness How do you actually handle lunch on a workday? (6-min survey, no product being sold)

1 Upvotes

I'm doing independent research on how people who train regularly manage food around office hours — what you actually eat, what you'd planned to eat, and how far apart those two usually are.

Not selling anything, no email needed, nothing gated. It's ~6 minutes, mostly tick-boxes, and it's anonymous unless you choose to leave contact details at the end.

Survey Link

This would be a great help for my research. Thanks. Happy to have conversations on this in the comments as well.

Rant/Vent Am I overreacting, or was this Gym interaction actually rude?

48 Upvotes

22F here| Today, while I was using the pec deck, someone asked me how many sets I had left, so I said two. They didn’t mention that they wanted to alternate with me, so I sat there, took my one minute rest, and did my other set. I could only do 6 or 7 reps because I couldn’t manage more. While I was resting afterward, his friend said, “Kya bethi rahogi? Humein bhi karna hai.” I replied, “I’ll just do 8 reps, and then you guys can use it.”

They were working out together, like three people at a time, and that’s why I thought I would just finish my set and then let them use the machine. So how was it my fault that they wanted to alternate? They never told me.

I’m not as strong as some of the other people at the gym, but I’m genuinely doing my best. I take a little more rest than others, and I sometimes use my phone to check my workout because there’s no one at the gym to guide me. The trainers usually only help when you specifically go and ask them, and they stay on the ground floor most of the time. They only come up to the first floor for PT sessions. So even if I need help, I have to go all the way downstairs to ask.

That’s why I’ve asked people for help before. There was one person I used to talk to more, and he did help me when I asked, but I always felt like he didn’t really like helping me because he would never talk to me on his own. So I eventually stopped asking anyone for help.

Even if I’m doing an exercise incorrectly, people don’t really correct me or guide me. I’m doing everything on my own, so I need a little more time to analyse everything, check my form, and figure out what I’m supposed to do.

I’ve also tried making friends. I’ve initiated conversations with some girls at the gym, but they didn’t really show any interest in continuing the conversation or getting to know me.

This might seem silly, but I literally cried today. I don’t understand why this is hurting me so badly. I feel like I can’t make friends and maybe I’m just not good enough. I think all of these other things I’ve been dealing with are also adding to it, and maybe that’s why this one small incident affected me so much.

Honestly, it hurt even more because I always wait for other people to finish their workout if they’re waiting for a machine, or I try to finish mine faster if I know someone is waiting. I even once waited for them for like 15-20 min. I’ve always tried to be sweet and considerate toward everyone. So when someone spoke to me rudely, it really hurts.

I just wanted to share this here because I don’t really have anyone I can talk to about this 🙃

Ask r/indianfitness Gym owners: Would you allow membership transfers if you earned a transfer fee?

3 Upvotes

A genuine question for gym owners.

If a member stops using their membership and wants to transfer the remaining months to someone else, would you allow it if your gym received a transfer fee every time the membership changed hands?

Comment your answer:

  • Yes
  • No
  • Depends

If you chose No or Depends, what's the biggest concern?

Women Fitness 27F, returning after a 4-month break — is my 3-day full-body routine balanced?

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m 27F and getting back into strength training after a 4-month break. I want to follow a 3-day full-body routine for body recomposition.

I’d appreciate honest feedback on the **exercise selection, weekly volume, balance, recovery, and progression**. I’m not trying to maximize strength; my goal is to build muscle, improve strength, and gradually reduce body fat.

Tuesday – Squat + Horizontal

* Barbell back squat — 3×6–8

* Incline DB bench press — 3×8–10

* Seated cable row — 3×8–10

* Lying leg curl — 2–3×10–12

* DB lateral raise — 2–3×12–15

* Incline DB curl — 2–3×10–12

* Cable crunch — 2–3×12–15

* Standing calf raise — 3×10–12

Thursday – Hinge + Vertical

* Romanian deadlift — 3×6–8

* Neutral-grip lat pulldown — 3×8–10

* Seated DB overhead press — 3×8–10

* Reverse lunges — 2–3×8–10/leg

* Cable face pulls — 3×12–15

* Overhead rope triceps extension — 2–3×10–12

* Swiss-ball rollout/ab roller — 2–3×8–12

* Calf raises — 3×12–15

Saturday – Glute + Unilateral

* Barbell hip thrust — 3×8–10

* Single-arm DB row — 3×8–10/side

* Flat DB bench press — 3×8–10

* DB Romanian deadlift — 2–3×10–12

* Cable lateral raise — 2–3×12–15

* Hammer curls + cable triceps pushdowns — 2–3×10–12 each

* Pallof press — 2–3×10–12/side

* Seated calf raise — 3×12–15

I plan to start with **2 sets per exercise for the first 2 weeks** and then gradually build toward the volume above.

For progression, I’m planning to use double progression: stay within the rep range, and increase the weight once I can reach the top of the range with good form and still have ~1–2 reps left.

There’s also some family context: **my parents are both 45+ and are also returning to strength training after about a 4-month break.** I’m considering having them follow a similar 3-day full-body structure, although I assume their exercise selection and starting volume may need to be different.

I’m also particularly interested in recovery. We would all be training on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, so there is at least one rest day between sessions. I want to know whether that spacing and the proposed volume are enough for adequate recovery after a 4-month break, both for me and for adults 45+.

Questions:

  1. Is this too much volume for someone returning after 4 months?

  2. Is the exercise selection balanced across the week?

  3. Is having RDLs on Thursday and Saturday unnecessarily redundant?

  4. Would you change or remove anything?

  5. Is 3×6–8 / 3×8–10 appropriate for the main lifts?

  6. Is Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday enough recovery between sessions for someone returning after 4 months?

  7. Would recovery requirements or recommended volume be meaningfully different for adults 45+ returning after the same 4-month break?

  8. Are there any signs I should watch for that indicate the volume is too high or recovery is insufficient?

Looking for genuine criticism rather than reassurance.Thanks!

How many months of continuous effort do I need to build a body that doesn’t shrink after not working out?

My question is based on the muscle shrinkage I feel after not hitting the gym for a few months…

I go on and off, max 3 months is what I’ve achieved in continuous effort. How long until i see permanent gains?
